YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE VOLUNTEERED TO HELP COOK, SERVE, AND

REPORT CARDS WILL BE SENT HOME ON FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6. LET’S
FINISH THE TERM STRONG! I HAVE ENJOYED SPENDING TIME IN THE
CLASSROOMS AND LEARNING WITH THE STUDENTS. WE HAVE A
TALENTED STAFF THAT IS CONTINUALLY WORKING TO INCORPORATE
FAITH INTO EVERY LESSON AND CONNECT LESSONS SO TOPICS ARE
INTRODUCED AND INVESTIGATED THROUGH MANY LENSES.
THANK YOU TO OUR MIDDLE SCHOOL ADVISORY STUDENTS WHO HAVE
PLANNED A SERVICE PROJECT TO HELP THOSE IN NEED. THEY

Dear SJV Families,
This year we will be celebrating the beginning of Advent with a special prayer service on Monday, Decem-
ber 2 at 8:05 a.m. This brief celebration, led by the fourth grade class, will include “Las Posadas,” which is
a Mexican Christmas Tradition and will be presented partly in Spanish. In addition, there will be a pro-
gram on Thursday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. This continuation of “Las Posadas” will commemorate the
journey that Joseph and Mary made from Nazareth to Bethlehem to find safe refuge where Mary could give
birth to baby Jesus.
Our Advent service project this year will benefit ECHO, Inc. in Janesville. We will be hosting a reverse Ad-
vent calendar. We request that you send donations of food to school with your child or drop donations off
outside the Kindergarten room in the pit. There will be various boxes located there for you to place your
donations in. Please see the calendar below for more information on how to help ECHO during this Christ-
mas season. These food items may be brought at anytime throughout December as all 24 boxes will be set
out.

The band students have made SO much good progress the past 2 months! The beginning
students are already playing songs and melodies after just 8 lessons. The advanced
players are doing well in lessons and also as they combine together in group band. The
older students are preparing for our Band Christmas Concert on Monday, December
9th at 6:30 pm at Saint William’s School Gym. I am so pleased with the effort and
improvement I hear every week with all of our band students!
Mrs. Mumma
CONGRATULATIONS to 8th grade flute player, Celia Weiss! Celia was recently selected
as part of the 2019 Wisconsin Honors Band! This middle school band is a statewide group
of top musicians throughout the state of Wisconsin. The group performed an honors band
concert Saturday, November 9, 2019, in Slinger, WI. We are so proud of you Celia!!!

Annual Church Support
Just a reminder that the minimum of $800 annual church support must be
donated by December 31 in order to maintain the in-parish tuition rate for the 2019
-20 school year. If you are unsure of your current balance, please contact Jeanne,
[email protected], or Heidi, [email protected], in the parish office, 752-8708, and they
can let you know your year-to-date total.
Donations can be made through the offertory collection at Mass on the weekend, dropped off in the school or parish office in an envelope marked “parish support” with your name, or, online through the “donate to the parish” button on the church or school website at www.sjv.org through the secure web page. When you
donate online, you can direct the donation to come from the bank account or credit card of your choice and you can indicate the frequency of the donation if you want to break up the donations from now through December 31.
