Fall BOOK FAIR – October 2nd – 4th The GMS PTO will be hosting the Fall Book Fair, which is during the week of Parent-Teacher Conferences, October 2nd through October 4th, in the GMS lobby. We would really appreciate your help, as this Book Fair requires a tremendous amount of work We would greatly appreciate it if you would please visit the following link to register to volunteer your time to help out with cashiering, setting up, tearing down - anything - during these 3 days.
All of this work, though, is well worth the effort, since it serves the purpose of bringing new books to our library, as well as enabling the GMS PTO to fund many necessary events throughout the year. Please type the following link into your web browser to be able to sign up for volunteer time:

We have an online volunteer space for you to sign up to bring a dish or other items (utensils, drinks, etc.). The Teacher Dinner will be held in the GMS multi-purpose room. Craft Fair Saturday, November 10th is our Annual GMS PTO Craft Fair. Attached is the registration form. If you or anyone you know would like to be a vendor, please submit the attached form and payment via US Mail to GMS, or via email to [email protected]. The cost is $35 per table, per vendor. The deadline to submit a vendor form is October 10th.
What does the PTO do for your School? Do you know what the PTO does for Grayslake Middle School? Below is a list of examples of things that the PTO purchased for YOUR SON/DAUGHTER’s school:
1. Purchased 7 MOBI’s for the classrooms 2. Purchased 12 Headphone Splitters for the Music classes 3. Field Trip Scholarships 4. Many donations toward the Teacher Appreciation Week 5. Dinner on Thursday evening of both Conference Weeks (Fall & Spring) 6. New books for the classrooms and libraries through the Book Fair 7. 8th Grade Celebration 8. ….and many more!
Through your time, we are able to provide many things that normally wouldn’t be a part of the budget. We are going to try to keep you abreast of the things we provide during the 2012-2013 school year, so that you can see the tangible and non-tangible items provided by your donated time and money.
Restaurant Nights
Tuesday, October 23rd – Mitch’s Grill, On Rte. 83, North of Rte. 120 in Grayslake – Please visit their website at: http://mitchsgrill.com/
Tuesday, November 13th – Culver’s, On Rte. 83, North of Washington Street in Grayslake.
Dog ‘n Suds’ Restaurant Night was held on September 19th – Thank you to
those who participated!!
Would you like to be a Chair for SCRIPPS? We are actively seeking a Chair Person for the Scripps fundraising program. Scripps is a program by which parents send in money for gift cards to stores they normally frequent (or would give as gifts at holiday/birthday times), and GMS PTO is given a percentage of the amount of each gift card purchased (the percentage varies by vendor). This is a great opportunity for a working Mom or Dad who wants to be involved, but doesn’t have time during the day or weekends, as it is something you can do almost entirely from home. If you are interested in Chairing this program, please send us an email at [email protected].
The dream begins with a teacher who
believes in you, who tugs and
pushes and leads you to the
next plateau, sometimes poking you
with a sharp stick called
"truth."

September 2012
Dear Crafters,
The Grayslake Middle School is sponsoring the GMS 5th Annual Craft & Vendor Show on Saturday,
November 10, 2012. The show will be from 10:00am to 4:00pm and will be held at Grayslake Middle
School’s large gymnasium. The GMS 5th Annual Craft Show will include raffle items, a bake sale, and
over 75 crafters and vendors.
General Guidelines:
All spaces are 10’ x 8’ and will be provided with 2 chairs. **NOTE: TABLES ARE NOT
PROVIDED.** Crafters must provide their own tables/displays. All displays must be kept within
the 10’ x 8’ space. All crafters must remain set up until the craft show ends at 4:00pm.
Entry fees are non‐refundable, unless Craft Show organizers cancel the show.
Set up will be from 7:30am – 10:00am.
Some electrical spaces may require an extension cord. Be prepared and bring your own please!
Electrical spaces are limited and reserved very quickly. Note: For those using electrical outlets,
you will be sharing a circuit with other crafters. Please be courteous and limit your amperage
requirements so that you do not cause power disruption to your neighboring booths.
Volunteers will be available to assist with unloading and unloading at the front entrance. We
ask that crafters move their vehicles to the parking lot as soon as their vehicle is unloaded.
Consider your fellow crafter waiting to unload. Park your vehicle towards the side lot or back
part of the parking lot, allowing attendees to park close.
All items you are selling must have been listed on your application form or you will be asked to
remove them. We will try to eliminate multiples crafters/vendors. There may be other vendors
selling like items, but we will try to keep this to a bare minimum.
Each crafter is required to donate a $10 raffle item that will be given away as part of the raffles
going on throughout the day.
Vendors must be cleaned up by 5:30pm.
By law, Grayslake Middle School, both inside and out the building, is a SMOKE FREE environment.
Grayslake Middle School is not responsible for any losses or damage to crafters’ property or
personal injury to persons attending the craft show.
Confirmation letters with space assignments will be mailed after October 15, 2012.
Thank you for making our 2012 craft show a success! We would love to welcome you back next year.
Applications and letters will be mailed to current crafters/vendors prior to the public “Request for
Vendors” for upcoming events. Remaining spaces will be assigned on a “first‐come, first served” basis.
Questions or comments, please email Vicki Comerford at [email protected].
Thank you!
