GREAT CONNECTIONSHealth &Safety Policy Statement

Great Connections Employment Services is fully committed to the safety and overall well-being of all of our employees. As such, accident prevention and good hygiene are considered a top priority within all phases of our organization. It is the primary objective of Great Connection’s top management to provide a safe and healthy working environment, and to prevent occupational injuries and illnesses before they can occur.

Great Connections Employment Services will make every possible effort to meet and exceed all requirements of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and in doing so will take responsibility to act on any reports of unhealthy or unsafe work sites which are reported to Great Connections staff. If an employee gets injured on the worksite, he/she will be offered modified work (As per Great Connections’ Early and Safe Return to Work Program).

All employees of Great Connections Employment Services also have a responsibility; to work in a safe manner, to use or wear any equipment, protective devices or clothing as required by the employer, and to immediately report any known workplace hazards to the supervisor and to Great Connections management.

Great Connections Employment Services has made a full commitment to these obligations and will continue to make every effort to achieve this objective.

Re: Early and Safe Return to Work Program

• In accordance with legislative requirements, Great Connections Employment Services is committed to cooperate in returning an injured worker to safe and suitable employment.

• The company will meet it’s obligation to an injured worker by having an authorized representative contact the worker as soon as possible after the injury to jointly work on developing a return to work plan. The return to work plan will be based on the individual needs of each worker and will incorporate all relevant information. Any options identified will be assessed in accordance with Section 40-12 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Bill 99 (Duty to co-operate).

• If an injury does occur, the employee must inform both their worksite supervisor as well as the Great Connections Hiring representative who assigned them to the position. The hiring representative and one Great Connections joint health and safety committee member, will jointly fill out a WSIB ‘Functional Abilities form’, and will submit it to the WSIB.

• If an employee is unable to return to their pre-injury position as a result of a work related injury, than the company will consider alternate options in accordance with WSIB regulations. Great Connections Employment Services will work toward facilitating injured workers to an appropriate and timely return to work in pre-injury positions. If this is not possible, Great Connections will make every effort to place workers in suitable, alternate positions. In the event that alternate positions are not available within the original department/worksite, every reasonable attempt will be made to find appropriate positions in other departments/worksites. All attempts to place the worker in another area must be done, in an appropriate manner, in cooperation with managers, health care providers, WSIB representatives, and the worker.

• All workers will be treated fairly and consistently and are expected to participate and cooperate in the RTW program.• All managers are expected to understand and value the importance of returning an injured worker to work and must

provide assistance where appropriate.• Any personal information received or collected that can lead to the identification of an injured worker will be held in

the strictest confidence. Information of a personal nature will be released only if required by law or with the approval of the worker who will specify the nature of the information to be released and to whom it can be released.

• This statement reflects the views of both management and employees of this organization and has been developed in full consultation with the employee representatives. Any issues arising from the goals in this statement will be monitored and evaluated through a joint consultation mechanism.

• This statement will be reviewed at least annually and may be updated or changed as required.

• Mark Gardashnik, Vice President
