Registration Info1. Online registration begins Wednesday March 11th

at 5:00 AM.

2. Mail-in registration must be postmarked and will be processed at random, beginning March 11th.

3. Walk-in, phone-in, and fax-in registration begins Saturday March 14th at 1:00 PM.

4. Club membership must be current throughout the program to register.

5. Classes may be cancelled due to lack of enrollment. Fees will be returned.

6. There are no make-up classes or refunds for cancellation or absences, weather, mechanical failure, or business interruption.

Learning CenterThe Learning Center provides members the opportunity to use educational software and programming that enables youth to work independently as well as engage with their friends in a fun setting.

Triple PlayWe will be implementing Triple Play into our daily programs. This Boys & Girls Club of America program strives to improve the overall health of Club member’s ages 6-17 by increasing their daily physical activity, teaching them good nutrition, and helping them develop healthy relationships.

GENERAL INFOGENRAL INFO

Club Bank & Snack BarYouth members can deposit any amount of money for the day and withdraw as they need. Money must be withdrawn at days end. Snack Bar: Pizza and water at Noon.

Annual Child Membership Birth to 17 years - $30 Membership is required prior to enrolling in classes. Children ages 6-17 can participate in the supervised Club Kids Program. MEMBERS must bring their card and check in each time they come to the Club. Members may bring a guest (must be 8 years of age). Guests 8-17 years are $5. Guests must be accompanied by a current member and are limited to one visit before membership is required.

Family Swim

Monday 9:30-10:15 AM beginning June 22 Tuesday & Thursday 7:00-7:45 PM beginning June 9 Open to all members and immediate family. Children must be accompanied by an adult in the water. One person in the family must be a current member of the Club. Suggested admission is a donation to the Arlington Eats Market. (limited to 75 people)

Sign-in ProcedureEveryone must sign in when entering the Club.

Program Area Ages 6-17Games Room

Members can take part in activities including pool, bumper pool, knock hockey, foosball, and more! Children may also take part in crafts and table games.

Sunshine Room

Air conditioned area designed to provide members a quiet place to play and take part in arts & crafts, games, and more!

Pond Room

This room, located right on the pond, is designed for members ages 12-17. Play cards, board games, Xbox, or simply cool off in this air conditioned space.

Free Swim

Swimming will be offered twice a day for children 6 to 17. All swimmers must pass a 25 yard swim test in order to swim in the deep end of the pool.

Open Gym

Members will be able to participate in open gym. There will be a variety of games played each day at the discretion of the gym staff.

Club Kids Questions Ages 6 - 171. Are my children safe? There are staff members located in all

program areas. All staff have background checks performed annually and have CPR and First Aid Training.

2. Can my child go outside? While participating in Club sponsored programs and activities, members ages 6-17 are supervised by Club staff and volunteers. However, the Club has an open door policy, which means that any member may enter or exit the building as they please during open hours. The Club relies on parents to set appropriate limits and grant permission to be on Club grounds. It is imperative that you establish and enforce rules about whether your children may leave the Club alone, or with other children. If your children are not allowed to leave the Club alone or with others, please plan to come inside the Club to pick up your children. The Club cannot be responsible for children prior to their arrival at the Club or if they voluntarily leave the Club.

3. What should my child bring to the Club? Children should bring a bathing suit, towel, and a snack, or money for snacks. Snack machines and drink machines are available. If your child brings money please check the money in at the bank at the front desk. Money can be withdrawn as needed. Please withdraw all remaining money at the end of the day.

4. What shouldn’t my child bring to the Club? Please do not bring expensive items to the Club. The Club is not responsible for lost items.

Youth Swim ClassesSwim Class RegistrationRegistration is limited to one swim class per session.

1. A waitlist will be established once classes are filled.

2. Participants must be at least six years of age to register for youth level classes.

3. Concerned about what level to register for? Contact Kim at [email protected].

Locker Room Safety Rules 1. Food, gum, beverages and glass items are NOT allowed.2. Do NOT stand on the benches.3. NO running or chasing in the Locker Room.4. Shower before entering the pool.5. Use of a cell phone in any of the locker room areas

is NOT allowed.6. The Club is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.7. Report all losses or injury to the Front Desk Staff.8. The contents of the lockers will be removed daily, and will be

held for a period of up to two weeks; unclaimed items will be donated to charity.

9. Lockers may not be used to store items overnight. Personal locks will be cut off and discarded and items will be confiscated.

YOUTH SWIM CLASSESCLUB KIDS PROGRAM INFORMATION

Club Kids Program InformationA yearly non-refundable membership fee of $30 is required of all members. This fee allows members ages 6-17 access to the Club during Club hours to participate in daily games, learning center, tournaments, open gym, free swim, and special events. Membership fees are renewable one year from date of purchase. Members, ages 6-17, are supervised at the Club. The Club has an open door policy, which means members may enter and exit the building as they please. Parents should limit how far their children can stray from the Club. Children not mature enough to handle this responsibility should enroll in other programs with direct supervision.

Kids’ CafeThe Kids’ Cafe is open daily for breakfast 9:00-10:00 AM and lunch 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. Club Kids participants ages 6-17 are invited to enjoy a healthy meal! Thank you to Arlington EATS and FoodLink MA for making this program possible.

Violations of the Code of Conduct will follow the Three Strike Policy

1. Staff will sit the child down and explain what rule was broken.

2. Staff will contact parent about child’s behavior.

3. Child may be suspended depending on the severity of behavior.

Semi Private Swim Lessons There will be 2-3 children ages 6 and older in each class. The goal is to improve the skills that they have and to introduce new skills. Red Cross Swim Level requirements will be covered.

Locker Room Access 1. Children five years of age or younger may enter the locker

room of the opposite gender.

2. Parents/adults not permitted in the shower area unless assisting their child or participating in family swim.

3. Children age six or older are not allowed in the locker room of the opposite gender; the family changing room is available.

4. Children age six or older may enter the appropriate locker room without adult supervision.

Family Changing Room Policies 1. Priority use for the Family Changing Rooms is for families with

young children of the opposite sex of the parent, who cannot utilize the locker rooms to assist their children in changing into swim gear.

2. Please do not leave personal belongings behind when departing the family changing room.

3. Please see front desk staff for family changing room key.

Donna & Amy’s Awesome Boot Camp Ages 8 - 13 This program will focus on outdoor fitness training as well as swim training in the pool. Participants will increase their endurance and build their strength through circuit training and swim drills. Participants should bring water, a healthy snack, a bathing suit, goggles, and a towel. SNEAKERS ARE REQUIRED. Participants must be able to swim 75 yards (Boating Test). Instructors are Donna Sullivan and Amy Collins. Register at the front desk once you pass the swim test.

Red Cross Lifeguard Training Recertification Participants achieve recertification in Lifeguard Training without having to take the full course. Summer Boating Exploration Ages 8 - 12Join us for boating adventures on Spy Pond. This structured program is designed for children ages 8 to 12. It will be offered in nine one-week sessions beginning June 22nd. Activities include sailing, kayaking, paddle boarding, and canoeing lessons. Children will participate in boating races, games, and exploration of the pond. Participants MUST pass the boating swim test (75 yards) prior to registering for this program. Boating tests will be offered at the beginning of free swim. Register at front desk once you pass the boating test.

Boating Exploration FYI: Boating Exploration meets out back along the pond. Children should apply sunscreen prior to arrival. Participants need to bring a snack and towel daily. Registered participants are welcome to take part in open boating from 12:30 - 4:30 PM during the week they register for.

Baseball Clinic Ages 6 - 8A week long class with Coach Nate who has experience at the collegiate level. He played baseball at Colby-Sawyer College, where he was a 2x NAC All conference member and was Rookie of the Year. He also holds a place within 6 statistical school record categories for baseball. Class participants will learn the proper fundamentals of the game in a fun environment. Hitting, fielding, and throwing drills will be the main focus of the week long clinic. They will become more knowledgeable and more comfortable with the game of baseball. All skill levels are welcome. All equipment will be provided. Participants can bring their own glove if preferred. Kids Zone takes place primarily outside utilizing the Club’s basketball court, field across the street, Spy Pond playground, and local walking field trips. A specific schedule and emergency form will be emailed the week prior.

* Boating is open to children 8 & 9 years old providing they successfully pass the 75 yard swim test and receive written parental consent. Boating ends August 21st.

* Children can buy pizza for $1.50 per slice. Please give pizza money to counselor at drop-off. We are not a peanut-free facility, but please alert staff if your child does bring nuts.

Drop-off & pick-up will be in the basketball court (unless registered for extended day). Late fee policy: There will be a five minute grace period. After that you will be charged $1 per minute.

It is time for an Extreme Summer. Join us for some extravagant summer fun! Children 10 -12 year olds will be exploring many new adventures together by going on fun filled trips each week. The weeks are full of adventurous, sporty, and nature filled fun. This program is offered in one week sessions, from 9:00AM - 4:00PM. Early morning options available.

n This program meets at 9AM in the Multi-Purpose Games Room.

n Each week consists of two featured trips (listed below). A detailed schedule listing daily local field trips will be emailed the week prior. This program takes place primarily off site

n We will be traveling to each place via Club vans, MBTA, or walking.

n Our day will conclude at the Club with Free Swim or Boating (permitting child passes a 75-yard swim test).

Arlington Boys & Girls Club Afterschool Program 2020 - 2021

New Family Registration for the Arlington Boys & Girls Club Afterschool Program.

n The registration for the Afterschool Program for new families is through the mail, beginning April 15th.

n All applications MUST be postmarked April 15th or after. No applications will be accepted in person.

n The application will be available on our website and at the front desk beginning April 1st.

Currently enrolled Afterschool families register in March and then remaining spots will become available to new families. New family spaces will be very limited and will be filled on a first come, first served basis from applications received through the mail. A wait list will be started if there are no spots available from a particular school. STEM PROGRAMSYOUTH STRUCTURED PROGRAMS

Jr. Youth Leader Club Ages 10 - 12Our youngest mentoring program is for children ages 10-12. This program is designed to encourage our youth members to advance their leadership skills, for 1-2 hours a day, while a part of the Club Kids drop-in program. Members will have age appropriate opportunities to gain experience through fun projects, activities, and Club-wide programming. Applications available Monday, June 1st. Youth Leader Program Ages 12 - 14Members ages 12-14 will assist Club Staff with programs and activities, earning credits for each hour of work. Leaders must record their hours worked each week. Positions include gym, pool and boat aids, junior leaders, and kitchen help. Participants will work a minimum of two weeks and a maximum of four weeks. Trips and activities will be planned for youth leaders throughout the year. Leaders can use their credits to enroll in these activities.

Mandatory meeting Tuesday April 28th at 6:30 PM for first time Youth Leaders. Each participant must have a current Club membership. Applications for Youth Leaders will be available online beginning Wednesday, April 29th. Applications must be returned to the front desk. Spaces are limited. First come, first serve. Career Launch Program Ages 14 - 17Learn how to be a leader and gain firsthand experience with the opportunity to work with children ages 3-12, while earning credits for each hour of work. Participants will be exposed to a work environment that will teach them job skills including leadership, responsibility, and working with others. Trips and activities will be planned throughout the year. Participants can use their credits to enroll in these activities.

Participants will function as Junior Staff assigned to a specific program. They will be responsible for assisting Club Staff in leading activities and various other duties. Participants will be required to attend at least one workshop during the summer. Workshops will focus on skills such as resume building, job applications, money management, etc.

This volunteer position can serve as community service hours. Participants must record their hours worked each week. Each participant is required to submit a Career Launch application, participate in an interview, and must have a current Club membership. Applications will be available online Wednesday, March 25th and must be returned to the Club by Friday, April 10th. Spaces are limited, first come, first served. Accepted participants are required to attend an orientation on Tuesday, May 12th at 6:30 PM. Participants will receive a minimum of three and a maximum of six weeks of work experience. STEM ProgramsWICKED COOL Vet School Ages 6 - 8Do you dream of becoming a veterinarian? Grab your lab coat, animal lovers, as we learn about our favorite furry, flying and fishy friends! Make amazing animal models, build big bones and investigate animal intestines from our favorite vertebrates: birds, mammals, reptiles, amphibians and fish. Classes taught by Wicked Cool for Kids.

Rocket Science ‘20 Ages 6-8A perennial favorite returns! Build and launch our favorite solid fuel rocket, the customizable E2X: perfect for the young aerospace engineer. Keep a Commander’s Log as you investigate the solar system, design a satellite, and build a space base for an astronaut. Blast off with a solid fuel high-flying rocket launch at the end of the week (weather permitting). Classes taught by Wicked Cool for Kids.

Locker Room Safety Rules 1. Food, gum, beverages and glass items are NOT allowed.

2. Do NOT stand on the benches.

3. NO running or chasing in the Locker Room.

4. Shower before entering the pool.

5. Use of a cell phone in any of the locker room areas is NOT allowed.

6. The Club is NOT responsible for lost or stolen items.

7. Report all losses or injury to the Front Desk Staff.

8. The contents of the lockers will be removed daily, and will be held for a period of up to two weeks; unclaimed items will be donated to charity.

9. Lockers may not be used to store items overnight. Personal locks will be cut off and items confiscated.

Locker Room Access 1. Children five years of age or younger may enter the locker

room of the opposite gender.

2. Parents/adults are not permitted in the shower area unless assisting their child or participating in family swim.

3. Children age six or older are not allowed in the locker room of the opposite gender; the family changing room is available.

4. Children age six or older may enter the appropriate locker room without adult supervision.

Family Changing Room Policies 1. Priority use for the Family Changing Rooms is for families with

young children of the opposite sex of the parent, who cannot utilize the locker rooms to assist their children in changing into swim gear.

2. Please do not leave personal belongings behind when departing the family changing room.

Creative Explorers FYI: Meets in Preschool Room 3 & 4 on the ground level of the clubhouse at 9:00 AM. Children are dismissed from the back of the building in the sand area. Children are released only to parents - notify counselor in writing if someone else will be picking up your child. We request that your child wear their bathing suit and water shoes daily. We offer water activities daily, weather permitting. Children should also bring a labeled towel and labeled extra set of clothing. Each child should have their belongings in a bag or backpack. Sunscreen should be applied by the parent before Creative Explorers. We provide a daily snack. Please provide your own snack for children with allergies!

ABC Preschool Ages 2.9 - 5 yearsABC Preschool is proud to be a part of Arlington and the surrounding communities since 1981. Our sunny and spacious classrooms are located in the lower level of the Arlington Boys & Girls Club. ABC Preschool uses a play-based curriculum that is developmentally appropriate for all ages. Our goal is to provide a warm and safe environment of social adjustment and growth for your children. We have a dedicated, fenced-in playground overlooking beautiful Spy Pond and are able to utilize the Club’s gym & heated indoor swimming pool. Other outside play areas include a fenced-in basketball court and ball fields adjacent to the Club. ABC Preschool offers a nine month program for children 2.9 years of age and up. You have a choice of 2, 3, or 5 day programs for preschoolers and the pre-kindergarten program runs Monday – Friday. We are licensed by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC). All staff members are certified in both CPR and First Aid. Limited spaces are available for September 2020 start.

Donate your unwanted car, truck, trailer or boat to the Arlington Boys & Girls Club. Your vehicle will be towed away free of charge and you can help the Club. Tell your friends and neighbors! For more information or to schedule a pick-up call 1-855-824-2227
