Committee Reports: Lake. Matt reported that it is time for the lake water quality evaluation, but things are looking really good. The green that is being seen on the surface is only pollen which is being monitored and treated. He is planning a lake/spillway clean up day. There is an Eagle Scout candidate who has volun-teered to build a free standing kayak rack for the Lake Park and is asking for board approval. There was discussion on fees to store kayaks and jon boats at the Lake Park. It was determined that $50 per year, matching the marina fee, was good and a sticker would be provided to place on the vessel to show that fee has been paid. There was consensus by the board to approve and for Matt to tell the scout to go ahead. Marina. Andrew reported that the fund raiser for the kayak launch was a success. There was $3500 in Tshirt sales and $750 in straight donations. There is a shortfall of between $100 and $200 that will be made up from the Marina Fast Forward fund. The marina clean up day will be May 28. There is some hardware and ballast replacement needed. An-drew has contacted Waterways Engineering to perform the dredge survey. They will assess the amount of material (the spoils) that needs to be removed/moved - this is part of what determines the cost of the dredge. Need to move quickly as there is currently an unrentable slip and the channel is unnav-igable at low tide. Bobby suggested moving the spoils to the soccer field. He volunteered to assist with research on the process for approval to do that. Pool. Bobby reported that the stains are returning. Not sure of cause - could be rust/pollen. However, he assured that the water is clean, fresh, and clear. Looks great. The baby pool is coming along. Getting small repairs completed. Bobby had special thanks to John (last name?) for advice and assistance in getting pool ready. The price for chlorine has increased and chlorine tablets are in short supply. We use liquid chlo-rine for the big pool and tablets for the baby pool. We will contract for weekly top off for liquid chlorine rather than calling when needed to ensure sufficient supply. We could look into getting a larger tank. An order for extra tablets has been placed. We have 74 paid pool memberships with a goal of 150. Don’t see any serious COVID restrictions. Pool staff has been hired. A board member asked if there would be a “senior” discount - reduced fee. Bobby did say that at one time there was a twilight membership offered and that mili-tary discount had been asked for. However, these types of discounts are not offered now because the cost of labor and utilities has increased significantly. We will also see an in-crease in most concession items of $.25. Megan passed along a request from Terry that the pool committee consider negoti-ating a set amount for payment from the Flyers instead of just expecting a donation. In the past the donation was used for a specific item of need - for example, it was used to offset the cost of the storage shed. Bobby will discuss with the Flyers. Also - there was success in the past with hanging of promo-tional banners around the pool area from local businesses. He will also require that the lane lines be placed in the pool by the swim team or if they want to pay the labor cost for a pool team member to do that they can. Pool will open Memorial Day weekend with a free “sneak peak” for neighbors. Welcome. Pat is tracking down leads as new families move in. When she talks to new residents she is finding that most have already joined! If they are not home, she hangs a wel-come tag on the door with her information.

Old Business: Directory. Pat reported for Jan that pick up at the park went well. One directory was provided per family unit. Dis-tribution of remainder will be determined upon Jan and Ter-ry’s return. New Business: Social Events - A discussion was held regarding having our usual social events and what form they will take. At this moment the event would need to be catered with servers be-ing gloved and masked. It was felt to be too early for a Me-morial Day event, but that July 4th was good. A consensus was reached that a celebration be planned for July 4th, vol-unteers to coordinate the event will be sought, bike parade will be a go, and an event invite will be sent so that the coor-dinator will know how many plan to attend and how much food to order. There being no further business the meeting was adjourned at 8:08 PM. Respectfully submitted, Denise Thomas, Secretary

Sunshine Report

We sent a sympathy card to Chad Broadus of Lawnes Circle, whose mother passed away this past Mother’s Day. We sent our sympathy to Terry Walker of Lawnes Circle, whose mother recently passed away. We received the following thank-you note some time ago, and I apologize to Theresa for being so late to acknowledge it. “Thanks so much for the lovely spring bouquet sent in memory of the loss of my son. Also appreciate so much the love and concern of so many neighbors that reached out to me with cards, visits and phone calls. So happy that I chose First Colony as my home in 1981. Love to all, Theresa DePew” Ann Hunt, Sunshine Chair [email protected] 757-229-1384 I appreciate so much when neighbors inform me of sadness or sickness in our community. Please don’t assume that someone else will tell me. I would rather get 10 calls than none to alert me to sickness or any other adversity. We want those in pain to know that we care. It doesn’t take a minute to call or send me an email. Thanks to all those who keep me informed.
