There is absolutely NO SMOKING anywhere on campus.

Parking is allowed in the main parking lots or designated shop areas. Automobiles which are illegally parked will be tagged and brought to the attention of the police.

When GNB Voc-Tech day school has been cancelled for inclement weather, evening school classes ARE NOT automatically cancelled. A separate decision will be made and announced. Check the Website at www.gnbvt.edu/vti or check us out on Facebook for snow cancellations. You may also call the school at 508 -998-3321 ext. 195 or listen to radio stations WBSM, WNBH, or WSAR for further information. Make-up classes will be scheduled at the discretion of the Institute Director.

At the conclusion of each non -license class, students will be given a certificate in their respective programs if they have attended 75% of the required class.

It is a school policy that no one is allowed into the building or any of the classrooms at any time unless they are a GNBVTI stu-dent.

C.E.U.’s and P.D.P.’s are available upon request for some courses.

Course instructors are subject to change.

Students may now register online through www.gnbvt.edu/vti and pay with a credit or debit card.

Registration is open to all, regardless of where they reside.

District price is for the residents of Dartmouth, Fairhaven & New Bedford. PROOF OF RESIDENCY REQUIRED

Classes operate on a Trimester System. Classes generally run for 8 weeks from 6:30- 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday un-less otherwise stated.

Tuition will be returned if it is impossible to conduct a course or the student decides to drop out of a planned course before it begins.

Senior Citizens (60 or over) will receive a $10.00 discount for all 8 week classes and a $5.00 discount for 4 week classes.

Qualified individuals with disabilities seeking reasonable accommodations are requested to contact the Institute Director at the time of registration.

Students must be 18 or older and not currently a high school student to take a course or be in the classroom during instruction.

This course will prepare participants for employment within both the clinical and retail pharmacy practice. Focus will be placed on medical terminology, pharmaceutical calculations,

inventory systems and regulations affecting pharmacy practice.

Upon completion of this course, students will be prepared to sit for the PTCB (Pharmacy Technician Certification Board) exam which would provide them with a CPhT (Certified Pharmacy

Technician) license.

The Ophthalmic Medical Assistant Program is a certificate program to help answer the need for qualified assistants in ophthalmology practices. This program is designed to teach the basic skills needed to perform eye exams and prepare the

This course will introduce woodworking basics; specific skills

woodworking techniques. Safety is stressed throughout.

This course is intended to prepare individuals to take the

building inspector certification exams. Candidates must

meet the minimum qualifications of MGL chapter 143 - 3,

which requires a minimum of five years of construction

experience in a direct supervisory position to take the

certification exam. Certification will qualify you for municipal

employment as a building inspector.

Residential Housing Technology

Instructor: Dave Doyle

This course is designed for the future or present homeowners

that are contemplating building, renovating, or repairing their

own homes along with general home maintenance. Classes

will cover building terminology, replacement windows, code

requirements, and drawing techniques to obtain a building

permit. Shop instruction will include use of hand and power

tools, rafter and stair layout using a framing square.

Furniture Refinishing Fundamentals

Instructor: Joseph Arruda

If you have a piece of furniture that needs a face lift, this is

the course to take. The first class will be an orientation to

evaluate the piece, and an overview of different types of

finishes and solvents. Students are responsible for all

materials, solvents, and finishes. Reconstruction is held to a

minimum.

Fine Woodworking

Instructor: Joseph Arruda

If you have some experience in woodworking and would like to

take the next step in creating a turn of the century piece, take

the challenge. This course includes complete step-by-step

instruction in creating a one of a kind piece such as a Queen

Anne step stool and a true hand-cut dovetail blanket chest,

using typical hand tools and modern machine techniques.

Prerequisite: CP-01/ previous carpentry training

Millwork

Instructor: Donald Desrosiers

The use of power equipment, safety, and operation make up

this program. Students are required to do a project that in-

volves the use of circular saws, jointers, radial saws, planers,

shapers, and small power tools.

This course will introduce students to Microsoft Word and the word processing skills necessary to write letters and reports, create flyers and newsletters, and improve office skills. In this hands-on course, students will learn how to create documents, format pages and text, create tables, envelopes and labels, edit and proof documents, and use the mail

merge feature.

Prerequisite: Windows or equivalent knowledge .

This course will introduce students to Microsoft Excel. Students will learn how to format data and use formulas. Students will also learn how to design charts and how to filter/sort data. Intermediate skills such as absolute references, conditional formatting, and linking cells are also introduced in this session. Students will master the basics of

Intro to Digital Photography

This beginner course offers the use of graphic-oriented com-

Learn the basics of Google’s Office replacement, Docs,

Sheets, Slides, and Forms. This class will go over Google’s

own suite of data processing tools. We will go over how to

develop documents, spreadsheets, presentations, surveys,

and much more. You will learn how to utilize Google’s

document sharing tool that allows your whole team to work on

one document seamlessly.

Introduction to Adobe Illustrator

Students will learn the core principles of how to sketch, trace and draw in Adobe Illustrator. We will use a variety of tools to

create and manipulate beautiful vector graphics. We will also discuss and utilize proper file management to maintain smooth

and efficient work flow.

MIG-TIG Welding

Instructor: Paul Mendez

This is an introductory program involving the feeding of a

consumable wire through a shielding gas and also tungsten

inert gas welding.

Arc Welding

Instructor: Marc Ferreira

Shop instruction includes the operation, care, maintenance,

and safety in machine operation, voltages, amperages, and rod

selection. Use of welding machine for beading, butt, flat, verti-

cal, and overhead welding are covered in this course.

This introduction course in the Portuguese language will

enable the student to speak, as well as understand, common

expressions.

This course will focus on survival skills in ASL, with

emphasis on building receptive and expressive sign

vocabulary. Students will learn the use of signing space, non

-manual components including facial expressions, sign skills,

body postures, and introduction to finger -spelling.

Instructor: Bob Branco

This course introduces the fundamentals of the braille code,

including the letters of the alphabet, numbers, and

punctuation, giving you the tools to communicate in writing

with family members or clients who read braille. Suitable for

blind and sighted students.

This introduction course in the Spanish language will enable the student to speak, as well as understand, common expressions.

This class is a continuation of the Beginner Class.

Watercolor Painting

This course is for all levels of watercolorist. A wide variety of

techniques for the beginner to the advanced will be covered.

Emphasis will be placed on color & design assisting each stu-

dent to create unique expressions of thought and emotion. Em-

phasis will be placed on composition technique and process.

Personal attention to ach student allows for rapid progress in

creating unique products.

Enrichment Classes Spring 20

Instructor: Bunny Mogilnicki

This class will enable participants to create many floral pro-

jects such as wreath making and decorating; how to care

and condition cut and dried flowers; making centerpieces;

corsages and boutonnieres; Oriental designs; arrangements

of different shapes, modern and traditional; wedding bou-

quets and many more fun uses for flowers. Students will

take home all the projects they make during the class. En-

joy the art of floral design for many years to come with the

processes learned in this class.

Basic Sewing for the Home

Instructor: Mary Ann Zuber

Update your home decor with several small accent projects great for

beginners and those wishing to refresh their skills on a sewing ma-

chine. Projects include accent pillows, table runners, curtains and

more. Skills taught will include machine threading and operation,

project planning, seams, and seam finishes, adding piping, and in-

stalling a zipper. Come to the first class with some basic hand tools.

Project supplies will be discussed at that time.

Power Machine Quilting

This streamline quilting course is perfect for those of you who

always wanted to make a quilt but don’t have a lot of time.

Learn the latest techniques in rotary cutting, block construc-

tion, paper piecing, etc. Come join the fun, make new friends,

and create great quilts. These classes fill fast! Register early!

Basic/Advanced Cake Decorating

Instructor: Jenna Frehill

This hands-on course will provide the fundamentals necessary to create any special occasion cake from whimsical to elegant designs. Cupcake fillings and designs will also be covered. Learn how to make shell borders, drop flowers, sweet peas, leaves, vines, timeless roses, and use star fill-in techniques. This course will also focus on how to make the perfect icing consistency using basic and butter -cream icing.

For the more advanced student: Why stop at decorating cakes with just icing? Learn how to work with fondant. You’ll be amazed at how easy it really is. skills, together we will embark upon a tasteful journey full of

use in everyday situations.

Yoga for Beginners and Intermediate

Instructor: Katelyn Fitzsimmons

This eight-week course will teach beginner and intermediate

students proper form of the fundamental yoga postures. Stu-

dents will gain strength, balance and suppleness. This class

requires some athleticism. Leave class feeling relaxed and

The healthcare industry continues to grow and the basic training program for Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) has an over-all objective to improve the quality of pre-hospital emergency care ren-dered to victims of accidents and sudden illness. As such, the course develops skills in symptom recognition and in all emergency care procedures and techniques currently considered to be within the responsibilities of an EMT providing emergency medical care with an ambulance service.
