Satyr

This play was for merriment during the serious competition

Each playwright would submit 3 plays and one satyr.

The satyr would loosen up the crowd and was often called a tragic comedy.

It made fun of the failure of others and even recreated some myths.

Assignments Week 13

Write 3 Biography Cards Write a short satyr to fill in a missing scene in one myth. Or have them act out a scene of comedy:

Have someone make a mess out of the tool box while someone else is trying to clean it up:

Lavern and Shirley did this a lot You can find many shows that demonstrate this…I love Lucy etc.

They could be an American asking for directions in Rome to get to the Acropolis: have one person send them to the sea and one to the hill. How does the person act etc. How can the body show confusion, frustration, humor, etc.? How would a mask help?

Read part of one tragedy and comedy.
