!Impact Factor~Leadersbip (First year principal, first year at school. etc.)

Principal - first year at the school and had surgery in the fall. We lost our Media Specialist to budget (she was the main driver for ELA instruction) and we

had to cut our AP to ! f : z time. These staff were well liked and integral to the school and thelosses demoralized the staff and student body. Need specific focus for classroom observations Need to improve observation/feedback plan RtI team just beginning to get organized

Student Population (Boundary changes, increased number onfree & reduced lunch status.first yearof opportunity scholarship which increased students scoring level 1-2, etc.)

. , Large influx of Kindergarten students that was not anticipated - had to add 3 teachingpositions.

The student population of 4th and 5th grades required additional teachers but our budgetdid not support them.

Fewer children coming from home settings where parents place a high value oneducation

Parents with history of negative school experiencesStudents are not motivated toward academic progress and willing to work for academicrewardsStudents who need more rigorous vocabulary and language skillsLack of high interest, low level difficulty materials to engage children in readingWe need a greater use of manipulatives and all modalities of instruction neededImpact of situational and/or generational poverty on our studentsParent engagement difficult to obtain - we have tried a variety of activities and have anactive PTA

Several v~ry high need students arrived in the lower primary classes without staffing forinterventions including needed behavior interventions.

Staff (Increased number ofnew teachers in testing grades/subjects. loss stuffto 97 day rule, LiS intesting grade-subject, non-reappoints, etc.)

Several of the teachers in yd _51hhad no experience teaching the subjects to which they wereassigned. One teacher has not taught in the classroom in over 10 years.

The part-time instructional coach was cut due to budget. Three surplus teachers were assigned during fall budget cuts and were not familiar with thecurriculum for the grades they were placed in. Math teachers were assigned to teach writing with little PD. Teachers learning the R T I process and had difficulty implementing interventions.

Professional Development (Number of teachers in testing grades/subjects receiving 10 + days ofProf.Dev. prior to F C-l T testing, # a/new teachers with no Prof Dev. other thanthe required TIP, etc.)

We had to change our Professional Development training on the tly to accommodate districtdirectives and react to staff needs. It was difficult to locate PO trainers who could respond to our needs. Lack of capacity on staff to provide Professional Development in house. Lack of materials to use to provide Professional Development and lack of funds to purchase. TOO many areas of content and instruction need development. PLCs did not have sufficient capacity to function independently to provide PO or follow-throughon PD we were able to provide. Vertical articulation is not in place yet.

    [Recovery Action~
