GREEN FODDER WHOLE YEAR

• Fodder solutions has developed a simple yet cost effective growing

system for sprouting cereal grains.

• Seeds are sprouted in six to seven days into highly nutritious feed.

• Plants are grown hydroponically, without soil or nutrients.

• The whole plant, including the clean root mat is harvested for livestock

feed.

• Clean green feed with consistent feed value everyday.

WHY SPROUT BARLEY?

• By sprouting barley the digestibility is increased form approximately

30% to over 80%.

• Spouted barley protein levels are near double that of dry grain.

• By sprouting barley there is an overall increase in vitamins and

minerals.

• Sprouted barley does not cause acidosis like grains that are not

sprouted.

• The possibility of growing fodder at any location as the system can

be installed in any area with electrical and water facilities. The

required amount of water is approximately 1% of the water required

for the production of traditional types of fodder. Fodder is

produced throughout the year on a daily basis in a controlled

environment regardless of outside weather condition.

Product:

+/- 1-2L of water is used to produce 1kg of green feed as to conventional fodder using 80l of water each day .Less than 1 hour labour per day to complete the whole process. One person can handle it with ease. Produce 300kg fodder per day with 50kg seed, on only 17square meter. Fodder is grown in a climate controlled biomass chamber constructed with insulated panels. Smaller systems are fully transportable and just require access to power and water. Fully automated watering system.

Process:

50kg Seed of own choice get placed in growing buckets every day. After six days the first trays from the back of the container gets taken out with a growth of 100 to 120mm. After day 6 each day 300kg fodder gets taken out and replaced with 50kg seed. Artificial lighting is used to maximize growth. Low running costs.

Sprouted barley protein levels are near double that of dry grain.

.By sprouting barley there is an overall increase in vitamins an minerals. Sprouted

barley does not cause acidosis like grains that are not sprouted.

NUTRITIONAL VALUE

Increase in Crude Protein The absorption of nitrates facilitates the metabolism of nitrogenous compounds form carbohydrate reserves, thus increasing crude protein levels.

Increase in Plant Enzyme Being eaten whilst extremely young ‘alive’ and rapidly developing, sprouts have been acclaimed as the most enzyme-rich food on the planet. Estimates suggest there can be up to 100 times more enzymes in sprouts than in fruit and vegetables, depending on the particular type of enzyme and the variety of seed being sprouted. The period of greatest enzyme activity in sprouts is generally between germination an 7 days of age.

Increase in Crude Fibre content

In sprouted barley, crude fibre, a major constituent of cell walls, increases both in percentage and real terms, with the synthesis of structural carbohydrates, such as cellulose and hemicellulose. The fibre content increased from 3.75% in unsprouted barley seed to 6% in 5-day sprouts.

Increase in Essential Fatty Acids

Increased lipoytic activity during germination and sprouting causes hydrolysis of trialcylgllycerols to glycerol and constituent fatty acids.

Increase in Vitamin content Vitamin analysis (within 6 days from growth): Vitamin: Barley Grain: Barley Grass: Vitamin-E 7.4 62.4 Beta-Carotene 4.1 42.7 Biotin 0.16 1.15 Free folic acid 0.12 1.05

COWS

MEAT PRODUCERS

Barley gets recommended as fresh fodder for beef cows. The fodder has good nutitional enzimes that makes the quantity of fodder less but the digestion more. In relation with 3-5% of the animal’s mass in fresh fodder is recommended.

MILK COWS

Fresh fodder that is included in the daily nutrition increases milk production, vatility and the general health of the cows. Each kg fresh fodder has the same nutritional value as 3kg of lucerne. In relation with normal fodder, the cows on fresh fodder 10.7% higher milk production and 14.6% higher milk solids.

HORSES

A Mixture of oats, Lupins and sunflower seeds is recommended for horses. The horses on this mixture, shows a higher energy level and faster recovery of an infection. The fresh fodder increases the shine of the horses mane, increase the hemogloben lairs and increases the blood count. Best results are through lower protein, with the result of better assimilation and digestion of the animals daily feed. Horses consume between 5-10 sprout per day, depending on the amount of labour the horse have on a daily basis. Pilvorm fodder

GOATS, PIGS, CHICKENS

The same is happening with pigs in manufacturing situation. The fodder of sprouts to chickens gives better quality manure seeing that it is not as wet and sticky. The benefit is cleaner eggs in the laying process. Sheep and goats shown that weight gaining is better with the fodder of fresh fodder. This increases the milk production in milk goats with approximately 14%. The nipple process of lams is also easier and the ewe is more accepted by the rams.
