EWG Coordinator and Member

EWG-EE Building Coordinator - Granollers City Council (ES): plan, monitor and report the activities/outcomes of the specific EWG; define the topics to be addressed; suggest detailed structure of the training materials contents; organise the work schedule between the EWG members; coordinates the quality control of the compiled materials.

-Expert on the specific thematic area to support technically the EWG task:Mr. Josep Puig i BoixEnergy consultant. Project Manager at Ecoserveis (association basically focused to develop european projects on energy education). He was professor of energy at UAB-University until September 2012. http://www.energiasostenible.org

Since 1974 he works as an engineer in both the private and university. He was technical advisor until the end of 1993 to Ecotècnia (which he co-founded in 1981) , cooperative society operating in the fields of renewable energy, especially wind energy. Ecotècnica is more known today as Alstom Wind (Alstom ecotècnia).

Besides being founder of Ecoserveis and membrer of environmental NGO “Green Alternative”, he is member of Scientific and Technical Group for a Future Without Nuclear (organized annually since 1987, the Conference for a Future Without Nuclear and Sustainable Energy), President of the Spanish section of Eurosolar and Vice President Eurosolar - the European association for renewable energies. He is also Secretary of the association which organizes “Earth Day” since 1996 in Barcelona.

Indicative training “activities” outline

To support the partners to the efficient implementation of the capacity building workshops,

the EWGs will prepare guidelines covering the following outline of the training activities

(courses, materials, workshops, etc.)

Types and structure of training activities (proposal to discuss in Sarajevo meeting)

Basic guide to improve energy efficiency in public buildings

• Target Audience: managers, users, technical personal of public administrations or institutions, external service providers in schools, sports facilities, cultural centers, libraries, other: markets, health centers (maintenance companies, suppliers, constructers, etc.).

• Learning objectives: Main concepts and targets on EE in buildings; Main saving energy and energy efficiency measures in buildings; Awareness on energy saving and GHG emissions reduction.

• Knowledge/Skills/Competences to be addressed: measuring and controlling energy consumption, recognize opportunities to save energy and GHG emissions in buildings and developing actions addressed to different tipologies of buildings, according rehabilitation, maintenance or new construction.

• Contents (technologies, solutions, pro’s and con’s barriers, technical considerations, economical/environmental aspects, case studies, terminology, resources/useful links)

• Training approach/methods and tools: digital publication• Evaluation – Reporting (specific template): edition of the guide and distribution between

target audience.

Specific workshop on EE in buildings

• Target Audience: EWG-EE in Buildings members • Learning objectives: Main challenges and opportunities to improve EE in buildings of cities

and regions• Knowledge/Skills/Competences to be addressed: state of the art in EU, main cost-

effective strategies, main cost-effective measures, environmental and economic benefits (energy saving, GHG emission reduction).

• Duration: 2 h• Contents (technologies, solutions, pro’s and con’s barriers, technical considerations,

economical/environmental aspects, case studies, terminology, resources/useful links)• Training materials: presentations, links for further resources, Best Practices library • Training approach/methods and tools: conference by expert on the thematic area,

roundtable, discussion between EWG members, and relating of conclusions• Facilities/infrastructure: aside next GPs SC meeting in Cyprus or in Montenegro (June or

December 2014), with the participation of experts on the thematic area.• Trainers profile: 1 or 2 external experts on the thematic area. • Evaluation – Reporting (specific template): celebration of the workshop, edition and

distribution of conclusions between participants.

Expert advice to buildings

• Target Audience: managers and users of public buildings• Learning objectives: presenting the Basic guide, giving main recommendations and

discussing it with managers and users (if necessary)• Knowledge/Skills/Competences to be addressed: Awareness on EE in buildings and basic

competences to improve EE in buildings• Duration: 1 hour per type of building (4 sessions aprox. of 1 h/session)• Contents: economical/environmental aspects of improving EE in buildings, basic guide

contents, case studies, terminology, resources/useful links, main and useful recommendations.

• Training materials: presentations, Links for further resources, Best Practices library • Training approach/methods and tools: visit by an expert on the thematic area, briefing

about the energy caractheristics of the building, study visit around it trying to identify possibilities to improve EE.

• Facilities/infrastructure: room in the building. • Trainers profile: expert on thematic area• Evaluation – Reporting (specific template): celebration of different sessions. Questionary

adressed to obtain the level of satisfaction of participants about the session and knowledges learnt.

Participation and presenting a paper/poster (if GPs is selected) at World Sustainable Building 2014 Conference

• Target Audience: EWG members, international stakeholders on sustainable building thematic area

• Learning objectives: communication and transnational exchange of knowledge on sustainable buildings and in general, about the main targets and outputs of GPs project.

• Duration: 28-30th October in Barcelona. • Contents: main results and outputs from EWG work and about the innovative dimension of

the GPs project in developing a new integrative approach for more efficient implementation of local energy strategies by forming local GREEN PARTNERSHIPS as an effective tool of energy governance at the local level

• Evaluation – Reporting (specific template): participation and presenting GPs study case in World Sustainable Building 2014 Conference (WSB14-Barcelona).

WSB14-Barcelona is the largest meeting on a global level on sustainable building where the most important and influential international institutions, experts in this field, will meet for the first time, organised by Green Building Council España (GBCe), is promoted by CIB, iiSBE, UNEP-SBCI, FIDIC.

17th January 2014: GPs project leader and Granollers City Council present an abstract titled “Forming Local GREEN PARTNERSHIPS for greener Cities and Regions”, into the thematic area Governance models and tools. Subtheme: Community Empowerment
