You may have seen these Friends under the tent, at this summer’s East Greenbush Farmers Market. In addition to distributing Friends membership forms, they offered visitors colorful flyers advertising our Children’s Festival, Fall Book Sale and the Museum Pass Program. They also sold the colorful East Greenbush Library book bags (a must-have fashion accessory) and paperbacks for summer reading. Several non-members were so excited that they joined our group on the spot! It was a pleasure meeting many of you at the Farmer’s Market.

A big Thank You goes out to those Friends who organized and manned the tent.

Fall BOOK SALE

Friends at the Farmers Market

One of the Friends’ goals this year was to update our bylaws. The new bylaws, while not radically different from the version approved in 1998, more accurately reflect the current organizational structure. The process provided an opportunity to reflect on the work of the Friends and how volunteers support our goals. The revised bylaws were unanimously approved at the July 21 Friends’ meeting! They are posted on the Friends’ page of the Library website. Just click on the Friends’ logo and scroll down to the Friends-By-Laws. And speaking of Friends’ meetings, the next ones are scheduled for 6:30 pm on Tuesday, September 20 and Tuesday, November 15. All members are welcome, especially new members. It’s a great opportunity to meet the team, see what goes on behind the scenes and offer your input.

We are seeking members who would like to serve on one of the two standing committees of the Friends: the Book Sale Committee and the Advocacy/ Membership committee. Joining one of our committees is an excellent way to learn about the work of the Friends and to contribute to our excellent library. Please contact Lynne Oudekerk at [email protected] or 518-479-4465 to learn more about these committees and/or to join the team!
