Die grandiose junge Koreanisch- Kanadische Pianistin Jennifer Lim, gilt jetzt schon als Geheimtip unter Ken-nern der klassischen Musik.Die Meisterschülerin von Pianisten wie z.B. Peter Serkin & Bella Davidovich ausgebildet, hat gerade Ihre erste CD mit Werken von Frédéric Chopin auf unserem neuen Klassik-Label veröf-fentlicht. Schon im Alter von 8 Jahren gewann sie den Großen Preis des Klavierwettbewerbs in Korea. Sie hat an der Julliard School of Music in New York studiert und u.a. den bewährten Rachmaninoff Preis gewonnen. Jennifer Lim hat schon mit großen Orchestern wie den Phiadelphia Orchester, CBC Chamber Orchester erfolgreiche Konzerte z.B. in der Carnegie Hall oder der Merkin Concert Hall in New York gegeben. In Deutsch-land wurde sie beim internationalen Clara Schumann-Wettbewerb entdeckt und schaffte so auch den Durchbruch in Europa. Eine Pianistin mit der Tiefe, Kraft, Brillianz und einer überaus gefühlvollen romantischen Spielweise, wie sie nur selten in unserer Zeit zu finden ist.
The great young Korean-Canadian pianist Jennifer Lim, is already now well known in insider circles as the new discovery of classical music, and a future star. The former student of such greats as Peter Serkin and Bella Davidovich, has just released her first album, with works of Frédérik Chopin, on our new Classic Label. At the age of 8 she had already collected the first prize of the Korean Piano Competition. She studied at the Julliard School of Music in New York and has also won the prestigious Rachmaninoff Prize.Jennifer Lim has already performed with famous Orchestras, such as the Philadelphia Orchestra and the CBC Chamber Orchestra and has played concerts in venues like the Carnegie Hall or the Merkin Concert Hall in New York. She was discovered at the Clara Schumann Competition in Germany and therefore succeeded in making a breakthrough also in Europe. Die CD „Story of a Jazz Piano, volume 2“, ist eine Zeitreise durch die Geschichte und Entwicklung des Jazz-Pianos von 1930 bis 2004. Ange-fangen bei Fats Waller und seinem unverwechselbaren Stride Piano Stil, über Swing- und Bebop - Pianisten wie Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans oder Oscar Peterson, bis hin zu den modernen Tastenzauberern wie Keith Jarrett oder Herbie Hancock, dokumentiert das Trio auf sehr eindrucksvolle Weise die unterschiedlichen Stile des Jazz Pianos und deren rhythmischen Begleiter. René Pretschner, Haro Eller und Jörg Hedtmann setzten hier gemeinsam eine Edition fort, die der Pianist mit Solo Aufnahmen berühmter Jazz Stan-dards im Jahr 2000 begann. Bei einem außergewöhnlichen Konzertabend des Trios im Januar 2004 in der Stadt-halle Wuppertal, entstanden einige Aufnahmen dieser CD. Im Juli 2004 wurde dann bei einer Studio Session, mit weiteren Trio Einspielungen von Kompositionen & Arrangements René Pretschners das Album ergänzt.
The CD “Story of a Jazz Piano, volume 2“ is a wonderful trip through the history and the development of the Jazz Piano from 1930 through to today, 2004. The Trio demonstrates the different styles of the Jazz Piano and their rhythmical accompanists in a very impressive way. Starting with Fats Waller (bonustrack) and his unmis-takeable Stride Piano Style followed by Swing and Bebop Pianists like Wynton Kelly, Bill Evans or Oscar Peterson and is finally completed by the modern key wizards — Keith Jarrett or Herbie Hancock.
René Pretschner, Haro Eller and Jörg Hedtmann follow in this way by contrib-uting an edition together in which the pianist started with solo recordings of the famous Jazz standards in 2000. In January of 2004, initialy reordings of this CD were developed at an extraor-dinary evening concert performed by the trio in the city hall of Wuppertal. During a studio session in July 2004, the album was accomplished by addi-tional Trio recordings of compositions and arrangements by René Pretschner.

Der große amerikanische Saxophonist Dave Liebman, ehemaliger Lehrer und Mentor von Gabriel Perez, sagt über den Argentinier: „Darüber hinaus, daß er ein außer-gewöhlicher Saxophonist ist, hat Gabriel eine sehr interessante Musik geschaffen, die sein Heimatland Argen-tinien reflektiert. Sie ist mehr als „nur“ Folklore oder Tango – sie ist voll von modernen und originellen Ideen.“ Mit „la chipaca“ legt der Saxophonist Gab-riel Pérez seine erste CD als Bandlea-der vor. Inspiriert zu diesen Aufnahmen wurde Pérez sowohl durch die Musik seiner Heimat, Argentinien, als auch durch die musikalischen Eindrücke die er in seiner Zeit in Europa sammeln konnte. The Piano en los Vientos duo, with René Pretschner (piano) and the Argentinean musician Gabriel Pérez (saxophone, clarinet, flute), put out their first duo album in early 2004. It features Argentinean folklore and Latin jazz, fusing South American melodies with music penned by Pretschner and Pérez. The music betrays a great deal about the duo’s feelings.
The multi-instrumentalist Gabriel Pérez plays saxophone, flute and clarinet while combining the skills of a powerful storyteller and a wonderful musician. René Pretschner’s beautifully laidback and peaceful piano sound keeps the soaring melodies of the three wind instruments earthed.

Der Jazz-Trompeter Bobby Shew bezeichnet Hubert Nuss als „Wunder-kind“. Piano - Duo & - Solo Aufnahmen, teilwei-se begleitet vom Ars Musica String Orchester aus Sizilien oder kubani-scher Percussion-Begleitung. This double album of the Piano Duo Pretschner / Mafali is a real master-piece. On their second release, the two pianists show once again their original and brilliant way of communi-cation, mastering all musical idioms, from rhythm to melody, without losing touch with the real feeling and atmos-phere of each piece.These recordings were inspired by the night, describing all its mysteries and wonderful mystical stories. From duet to solo, sometimes even together with the Ars Musica String Orchestra from Sicily or Cuban percus-sion, it‘s Tango, Salsa, Merengue, lyrical Jazz and Pop, all mixed up with new European classical music.
Inspiriert zu dieser CD wurden die beiden Künst ler durch eine gemein-same Reise nach Havanna de Cuba, auf der sie den Pianisten Joseito Gonzales kennenlernten, der sie mit Salsa Merenge in Berührung brachte. Das Feuer der spanischen & latein-amerikanischen Musik veranlaßte René Pretschner und Melo Mafali „The Piano Duo“ zu gründen, um diese Stilvielfalt für zwei Pianos zu komponieren und zu arrangieren. Herausgekommen ist „El latino“. Die CD läßt beim Hören, aufgrund der gleichzeitigen Aufnahme beider Pianisten, die Atmosphäre eines Live-Konzertes entstehen. Gerade des-wegen spiegelt „El latino“ einerseits die Lebensfreude und andererseits in den ruhigen und gefühlvollen Stücken die Melancholie Lateinamerikas wieder.
The inspiration for this album came from a trip to Havanna de Cuba. Their sympathy for Spanish, Latin-american music and Jazz brought the pianists René Pretschner and Melo Mafali together as „The Piano Duo“ and to arrange and compose those styles in the form of „Music for two pianos“. The result of this union is the CD „El Latino“, a studio recording with a strong live character, due to the simultaneous performance of the two musicians, without overdubs. For this reason, and also because of the intense vibration of the compositions, „El Latino“ reflects both the cheerful-ness and melancholy of South american cultures.

Das Piano Special 2002 – Jazz meets Classic, wurde im 20. April 2002 vom Deutschlandfunk aufge-zeichnet. Beste Stimmung, großer, virtuoser musi-kalischer Spaß. – „Ersthörern“ von Jennifer Lim verschlug es bei der Per-formance der zierlichen jungen Frau aus New York, einer faszinierenden Pianistin aller Genres den Atem; wer sie kannte, war ein weiteres Mal hinge-rissen. Die Werke von René Pretschner & Melo Mafali von ihrer Hand – klassi-sche Musik der Moderne, seelenvoll interpretiert und – die Komponisten räumten es beinahe fassungslos ein – von einer neuen, veredelnden Güte. – Das Ganze: jetzt auf dieser CD!
The Piano Special 2002 – Jazz meets Classic, was recorded on April, the 20 th 2002 by the broadcasting station Deutschland Funk. Three pianists and a moderator showed up in the sold out venue , the historical building called ”Stadthalle Wuppertal“. The first half of the concert was a mere ”jazz à deux“, a duet mastered by the Pianoduo, who performed latin -american - cuban influenced originals, as well as standards by Miles Davis and Sonny Rollins. The mood was great, the virtuoso fun performance of the two even better. The novice to the art of Jennifer Lim were knocked down by the gigantic performance of the fine young pianist from New York, a fasci-nating master of breath-taking styles: the ones who already knew her were again impressed. The works of Rene’ Pretschner and Melo Mafali, rendered by her in a touching interpretation, were shining of a new light, so that even the composers were suprised by new qualities in their own music. The whole event is now available on this CD!

Zehn Pianisten, ein Raum und ein Konzertflügel, das war die Idee zu einem gemeinsamen Projekt lyrischer Piano-Solo-Aufnahmen. So entstand diese erste Dokumentation zeitge-nössischer Jazzpianisten in Europa.
Ten piano players, one room and one grand piano – that was the idea of this pianosolo-project. Thus did this unique documentation of contempo-rary jazz pianists in Europe come into being. The result is a multinational production, outstanding both artisti-cally and technically. The ten Europe based musicians are showing their unique talent, each of them playing one of their own originals, using the same perfect recording tech nique, documenting their different approach to the instrument.
Mit der zweiten Edition der „Ten Piano Players“, setzt Greenhouse das außergewöhnliche Projekt mit neuen Piano-Solo-Aufnahmen fort. Die Eigenkompositionen wurden von allen zehn Pianisten auf ein und demselben Konzertflügel eingespielt. Der Zuhörer erlebt dadurch auf unmittelbare und eindrucksvolle Weise die unterschied-liche Spielart, Anschlag und Klang der Jazz-Pianisten. Diese CD-Produktion wurde eingespielt von großartigen Musikern die trotz allseitiger Kultur-kürzungen ihren musikalischen Weg entschlossen weitergehen. Diese CD ist nicht als Sampler zu verstehen, sondern als ein eigenständiges Projekt zehn zeitgenössischer Pianisten.
With the second edition of ”Ten Piano Players“, we continue our collec-tive and uncommon projekt of Piano Solo recordings. The originals were played on the same grandpiano. Therefore the listener per-ceives immediately and impressively the individual style, touch and sound of each single jazz pianist. This CD is not a mere sampler, it represents an outstanding project of ten well known pianists, who composed their songs for this recording.

The last CD production of René Pretschner (piano & keyboards) and his band, is a very interesting mixture of Ethno, World, Jazz and Pop elements.Like film music, powerful, lyrical, free and floating at the same time. Over a period of some months, different well known musicians from India, Albania, Argentina, Persia, America and Ger-many came to the Greenhouse Studios to play, sing and record these new compositions with the René Pretschner Band. The result is a very outstandingme lodic and harmonic music with fan tastic arrangements.
