YGRENE PROFILE
WHAT IS PACE PACE stands for “Property Assessed Clean Energy”
PACE (Property Assessed Clean Energy) is a simple and effective way
to finance energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation
upgrades to buildings. PACE can pay for new heating and cooling
systems, lighting improvements, solar panels, water pumps, insulation,
wind mitigation and more for almost any property – homes,
commercial, industrial, non-profit, and agricultural.
The concept was first conceived and proposed in the Monterey Bay
Regional Energy Plan in 2005.
FLORIDA: passed its PACE enabling statute (Section 163.08, F.S.) in
2010, thanks to strong bipartisan legislative support and the efforts of
many to promote energy efficiency and renewable energy measures
for homes and commercial buildings throughout the state.
PACE IN FLORIDA
163.08 Supplemental authority for improvements to
real property.—
(1)(a) In chapter 2008-227, Laws of Florida, the Legislature
amended the energy goal of the state comprehensive plan to
provide, in part, that the state shall reduce its energy requirements
through enhanced conservation and efficiency measures in all end-
use sectors and reduce atmospheric carbon dioxide by promoting
an increased use of renewable energy resources. That act also
declared it the public policy of the state to play a leading role in
developing and instituting energy management programs that
promote energy conservation, energy security, and the reduction of
greenhouse gases.

Broward Rolls Out Innovative PACE
Program “Broward County Commissioners have approved a county-wide
property assessed clean energy (PACE) program that allows
property owners to receive upfront financing for a variety of
energy-related home improvements. Property owners then repay
the debt through voluntary assessments on their property tax
bills. This method of financing allows people to make significant
energy improvements that may otherwise be cost prohibitive, and
without impacting their credit scores”

Ygrene accelerates to statewide PACE Alliance lowers buy-in cost for local governments
“Since launching a few years ago, Ygrene
(ygrene.us) has financed $140 million in
approved projects in six counties with 40 cities,
including Sacramento and Florida”.

Improve your home, and take your time paying
"In many cases, the project can be structured so that utility-bill
savings are greater than the annual payment" due through
PACE, Spector said. "So, basically you can replace your air
conditioner for free.“
“So far, the Ygrene Green Corridor district has funded some 50
projects at an average loan amount of $22,250 each, Spector
said”.

“More than $7 million in PACE projects for homes and businesses have been
financed in Miami-Dade since mid-2013”.
"We now have more than 1,000 applications received" for PACE projects in Dade
cities, Spector said. "They're coming in at a rate of 20 to 30 per day. When we
started, it was slow. We'd get maybe 10 a month.“
“Ygrene expects to offer up to $25 million in PACE loans in Dade cities this year.
PACE funding for homes and businesses countywide in Broward could top $50
million yearly, Spector estimates”.
