Hazchem stay long in the environment (water, soil, ice); and hard to break down. 有害化学品会长期存在于环境水域，土壤及冰中，且难以完全分解。

Hazchem can build up in the bodies of organisms over time, and they can be spread via the food chain. 有害化学品会在生物体内蓄积，并通过食物链不断向其他物种扩散

EDCs (endocrine disrupting chemicals) disrupt the proper function of the body’s hormones. Sometimes EDCs severely impact development of the brain, nervous system and reproductive system.内分泌干扰物有时严重阻碍婴儿脑部，神经系统及生殖系统发育。phthalates (邻苯二甲酸酯 ), alkylphenols(烷基酚 ), bisphenol A(双酚 a) and some types of brominated fire retardants（部分阻燃剂）
