Initiatives for 2012RTTB’s fiscal year runs from July 1st to June 30th. During 2012, we are set to accomplish the residential repairs and rehab of 120 homes occupied by low income homeowners. The goal is to make these homes healthier, safer and more energy efficient. Under the concept of making substantial impact, not only to the homeowners, but also within the communities they live. Our Board of Directoes has targeted the following neighborhoods in the Tampa Bay area.

In March of 2011, five tornadoes rumbled through the neighborhood of Progress Village. RTTB, in partnership with the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners, and wth the support of the Affordable Housing office, was awarded a Community Development Block Grant Fund (CDBG) to address the emergency repairs of some of the homes. Under this partnership, the RTTB team will be responsible for those houese requiring repairs not exceeding $10,000. The funding available through CDBG will be up to $7,500 per home. As a result, RTTB is looking to leverage funding through the generosity of corporations, foundations, suppliers and volunteers in order to meet the $10,000 per cap per house. Although not all houses require the same amount of funding to be invested, we still want to make sure that financial limitiations will not be an issue at the time of completion for these projects. Some funders who have already committed support financially and through volunteer teams are: Lowe’s, Carter’s Kids Foundation, MetLife Foundation, Scott Paint, Wells Fargo Home Foundation, USAA, Home Depot, Waste Management/ Bagster, Tampa Electric, Booz/ Allen/ Hamilton, local churchees and many volunteer groups.

In addition to the funding recieved from the Hillsborough Board of County Commissioners to adress the needs of Progress Village, RTTB was also awarded $250,000 to provide Residential Rehab Repair services within unincorporated Hillsborough County. This funding will allow us to make essential repairs in homes located in areas such as Palm River, Gibsonton, USF, Town and Country, Plant City, Riverview and Wimauma. About 60% of the grant will be used to make a positive impact in the Palm River area in conjunction with other groups who have adopted this community and are hoping to provide additonal programs such as case management, health services, education, and employment and business development. RTTB will be a part of this holistic approach to a low-income community which will hopefully generate an opportunity to be mirrored in other parts of the county.

3. Healthy Homes For Sulphur Springs. Number of homes to be completed: 25. Total cost of the project:$$125,000

Since the summer of 2009 and with initial support of the JPMorgan Chase Foundation, RTTB Board of Directors have commiteed time, finding and resources to aid in making a positive impact in the lives of the residents of the historic neighborhood of Sulphur Springs. Since then over 30 homes received substantial repair and reahb due to the financial support of many partners and contributors including but not limited to The City of Tampa Housing and Community Development, Choice Hotels Division, Wells Fargo Home Foundation, First Florida Construction, Home Builders Institute and the many churches located in the community. The goal of this initiative is to focus the resources in making the houses healthier and more energy efficient. Projects will include LEAD paint testing and repairs, roof repairs, pest management control, installation of smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, replacement of carpet for tile flooring, HVAC maintenance, installation of grab bars, and securing doors and windows. In addition to these improvements, RTTB will work with a dedicated group of volunteers to paint the exteriors of houses, provide yard cleaning and tree trimming and removal.

4. Rebuilding Together South St. Pete. Number of homes to be completed: 25. Total cost of the project: $300,000

In April of 2010 in conjunction with several St. Petersburg City Departments and in partnership with the Mayor’s Office and the City Council, RTTB began the process of expanding services in Pinellas County by identifying the City of St. Petersburg as the aunching area. Since then, we have completed over 30 homes with the generous support of groups, corporations and foundations, including but not limited to the Tampa Chapter of the National Association of Remodelers Industry, Re-Bath, Scott Paint, Honeywell, Lowe’s, Home Depot, La Unidad Latina, The Dream Center, Bank of America, Wells Fargo Home Foundation, Allegany Franciscan Ministries, local neighborhood associations and hundreds of volunteers that desired to make a difference in low-income neihborhoods in South St. Pete. This year with the support of the Mayor and the Housing and Community Development Department, we are committed to make substantial repairs within the 15th Avenue corridor. There is a great need of support to leverage the funding provided by the City of St. Petersburg. RTTB’s plan for the repairs of this community will include roof replacements, plumbing and electrical upgrades, healthy homes and energy efficiency upgrades, exterior painting and landscaping.

How Your Contribution Will Be UsedWhen corporations and sponosrs like yours support RTTB’s efforts to make a positive impact in the lives of low-income homeown-ers, we are committed to invest and maximize your contribution as much as possible. However, there are some project management expenses that are incurred.

Project Management and General Support: There are two diiferent ways , based on your support, that we will invest your monies.

• TurnKeyOperations- This is the kind of project where your company is the only sponsor for the project (Eligible levels are: Tampa Bay, Community and Home Sponsors). Your funds will be applied as follows: 1. Either 20% or $2,000, whichever is higher, will be invested for operating expenses and project management. This includes but is not limited to home selection, development of the scope of work, site preparation, overseeing project construction and logistics (water, food, port-o-lets, dumpsters), marketing to include press and media releases (preapproved by you), social network updates, and invitations to local leaders and congressional representatives. 2. The rest of the funding will be completely be invested in the house. On occasion, your funds will be leveraged by supplies already in our warehouse and generously donated by large local and national companies.

• LeveragingwithOtherResourcesorFunding-We do understand that these are difficult financial times for a lot of companies, but most would like to give back to the communities that support their services or businesses. Leveraging resources from other funders and large contributors would be a great way for you to still be a part of a mission that makes a difference in the community while providing team building opportunities for your employees. In these projects your contribution will be used in conjunction with other funders to benefit several houses, or a block or neighborhood on a much larger scale. You still get the recognition and benefits you deserve for your participation. The only difference is that your name will share the spotlight with other sponsors. Nonetheless, your experience will be as rewarding as if you are the title sponsor for the project.
