Grey County Local 344 Member Newsletter Summer, 2017 Member Profile: Cedar Down Farm Leslie Moskovits and Jeff Boesch Grey County’s Cedar Down Farm is definitely cedar and down. The drive in from the concession road is through a picturesque lowland cedar forest which opens up into a clearing with a house, outbuildings, pastures and gardens with croplands beyond. Located just east of the village of Neustadt, Cedar Down Farm is owned and operated by Leslie Moscovits in cooperation with her partner, Jeff Boesch. In recent times two children (Asher, three years old and Wren, one year old) have joined the Moscovits-Boesch household and farm crew. Leslie and Jeff grow certified organic vegetables for a Community Shared Agriculture (CSA) venture. “We grow a diverse array of vegetables, herbs and flowers on about six acres for 200 summer shares and 100 winter shares,” Leslie says. We deliver to customers in Hanover, Paisley and Guelph, she adds, and also sell wholesale vegetables to an Artisanale Restaurant in Guelph. Leslie says so much about farming brings the family joy, including providing fresh, nutritious, and safe food for other families in the community and seeing how local, ecological agriculture can itself build community.
