1. Dismantling the Gripper TRG

Warning from unexpected operation! Secure the lifting device in a way that it cannot be operated during any (maintenance) works.

• The disassembling has to fit to the local circumstances • Place slightly opened gripper on suitable ground. • Switch off hydraulic system and actuate operating lever on the control device of the

carrier machine into both directions several times (pressure relief). • Remove hydraulic hoses and seal them, collect leaking hydraulic oil.

Remove eight socket head cap screws (52, M12; see chapter 4, Tab. 3) and secure washers on right cylinder housing (50) Loosen and remove bolt (12, M10 see chapter 4, Tab. 3) which connects pin (11) and gripping arm carrier (10). Take pin (11) out of gripping arm carrier (10) (see Fig. 1.1) Take off gripping arm (20) with hydraulic ram (60) and right cylinder housing (50) to the side.

Fig. 1.1Disassemble the pin (61) from the right cylinder housing (50). Remove the right cylinder housing (50). Disassemble pin (21) afterwards. Remove gripping arm (20) (see Fig. 1.2) Disassemble the second gripping arm similarly.

1.1 Replacing the Sealings in the Hydrauilc Cylinder • Unscrew the piston rod guide (30) • Remove the piston rod (20) together with piston rod guide and piston (40) from the

cylinder tube (10). • Replace all sealings (100) and O-rings (grease slightly) without damaging the new

sealings. • Push piston rod guide (20) onto piston rod guide (30). Mind the correct position of the

piston rod seal (102) and the wiping ring (101). (siehe Fig. 1.1.1) Coat the piston rod with securing adhesive (Loctite 638) and screw the piston (40) on the piston rod (20) (tightening torque see spare parts list). The thread securing requires approx. 8 hours to harden. The hydraulic cylinder should not be subjected to oil pressure during this time. Put the piston rod (20) with piston (40) and piston rod guide (30) into the cylinder tube (10). Screw the piston rod guide (30) into the cylinder tube (10) (tightening torque see spare parts list).

2. Installing the Gripper The installation is performed in reverse order. The replacement of worn bearing bushings should coincide with a replacement of the pins. After the installation, lift the gripper off the surface, subject it in both end positions to a pressure for a number of seconds, and examine the screw fittings for leaks. No hydraulic oil should escape at the connectors. Tighten the connectors if necessary.

3. Mounting the Gripper TRG on the Tilt-Rotator NOX • Place the gripper, open, on a suitable surface. • Switch off hydraulic system and actuate operating lever on the control device of the

carrier machine into both directions several times (pressure relief). Remove four countersink screws (SEN, M16) from the NOX (see Fig. 3.1)

Fig. 3.2Finally, turn the hex screws (70, M12) on both sides until it touches the NOX. Tighten the nut (see Fig. 3.3).

Note Attach the hydraulic hoses to the NOX. Operate in succession the "Open Grapple" and "Close Grapple" functions and hold briefly. Prove all hydraulic connections if they are leak-proof and prove function of gripper. No hydraulic fluid must escape at the connections. Retighten the connections if necessary.
