EVERYONE IS WELCOMEWe’re proud to ensure that the YMCA is accessible to everyone, and we never want anyone to be turned away for an inability to pay. Don’t hesitate to ask about financial assistance for programs or membership. We’re happy to help.

We’re able to open our doors to all thanks to a community of generous supporters of our annual Strong Kids Campaign. Contributions to Strong Kids enable us to offer a number of our programs and services at low or no cost, and to make assistance available to make participation affordable.

The Y is more than a membership card. We’re bigger than the programs we offer in our facility or around the community. Will you help us as a donor or volunteer fund raiser to ensure that everyone can be a part of the Y?

To donate to the Grosvenor Neighborhood House YMCA Strong Kids Campaign or to get more information, please contact Wyndy Sloan at 212-912-2611 or [email protected].

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAMS

TENDERCARE

The Early Childhood Program serves children ages 2 to 5 years. The YMCA is committed to providing a safe, support-ive environment that helps young people develop a secure foundation for learning. We offer a nurturing yet challenging program with a developmentally appropriate curriculum where children can play, learn and discover. Children develop confidence in themselves, are aware of their strengths, and challenge themselves to succeed where they initially need support. Social development is a key component of our program. There is a strong sense of community within the center and children and families feel secure, engaged, and excited to be part of this loving environment. The development of trust, independence and initiative is fostered through a daily program of choice activities, centers, large and small group meeting times, story and music time, outdoor play and specialist classes. In addition to open-end-ed play, there are several special projects or activities daily. These projects are geared to the interests of the children and the early childhood goals and expectations. Children experience early literacy, math, and science activities through-out the day. We model for children and they practice and apply what they learn to play and work-based opportunities. These may include science, explorations, art projects, dramatic play or field trips. As part of the YMCA, the school also places a great deal of emphasis on physical and community awareness. Teachers plan curricular goals around the expec-tations for growth and learning that are appropriate for the age of the children.

Tender Care students are well-prepared for Kindergarten. Families are supported in their Kindergarten search and ap-plication process. Students have been accepted to their choice schools.

Open house tours and meetings are conducted from November through January. Applications are accepted during this time for the following school year. Scholarships are available based on income and availability.
