Dirty Little Secret

He was never there…He blamed her…And now it’s time for revenge.

Based on true events.

We started our thought process by looking at a variety of different films. The ones that stood out the most where the horror genre. We liked how you could build up tension through simple techniques and take the audience on a journey. A particular film that we liked the idea of was Halloween, directed by John Carpenter. The opening scene was very suspenseful and we thought we could use the idea of building suspense in our own opening.

The first idea we had was to have a man who thought he was being watched all the time. The paranoia drove him mad and ended up killing any person who looked him in the eye.

As a group we decided this wasn’t a very good idea as it wasn’t very scary and maybe too difficult to create the special effects needed to get across the suspense.

We developed this idea and came up with a final synopsis…

A girl is running through the woods late in the night, we hear loud panting, and just keep seeing her through the tree's running. We as yet don’t know why she is running. She then hides from something that she was running from, she makes a call to someone. When she finishes on the phone, we hear leaves crunching on the ground in the woods, the girl looks around for whoever it is, when she turns back to run we see a man in a mask in her face, he just stares at her, and then you hear a scream and we just get a close up of the women falling to the ground with a knife in her chest, still alive dragged off into the woods. We then cut back to several days before the women that gets killed, where the women that gets killed is becoming hassled at work from a stranger, she starts to receive weird emails, saying that someone is watching her, then she starts to see someone following her. She then receives phone calls from this person but whenever she answers them there is no-one there. She now decides to move to her sisters near a woods, she goes for a run even though her sister says its dangerous but ignores her as she believes this person can't know that she is here, whilst on the run she receives another phone call, all she is told is ' look behind you' and 'And tell your sister the same thing - this is where the movie starts, When she starts running. 

We looked at similar films in the thriller/horror genre that we believed ours was going to be like. We thought Blindness, directed by Fernando Meirelles, was similar and are going to use this as an example for development.

As you can see this type of film is best targeted at males aged 25-34. Although females also found it quite popular. We will base our film on this and so have decided to have a female lead and have some violence included to attract the male, teen, audience

The opening scene

Main character – Ella, played by Emily Hunt Young women, aged 19, she has blonde hair, blue eyes, she has just started

working in her new job, which is for daily mirror as a intern. She lives on her own in a small flat in a town in Surrey called Reigate. She is very close to her older sister, they spend a lot of time together as that is all they had when they were growing up.

Killer – Played by Harry Knight The killer is unknown but turns out to be their father. He wears dark black

clothes and is coming back for revenge, as Ella’s mother died giving birth to her and he has always blamed Ella for it. That is why he was never there for them in their childhood.

LOCATIONS - The film is based in the small town of Reigate and in the woods near her sisters house.

MUSIC – We begin the sequence with Ella’s ipod playing dirty little secret. Then silence. We are then hoping to have tension building music when she is running from the killer. As she gets dragged away her mobile phone rings with the ring tone of the teddy bears picnic. This then turns into the actual song which leads into the beginning of the film.

PROPS - mobile phone, knife and fake blood, ipod playing dirty little secret.

COSTUMES- Ella - running tracksuit for the opening scene as she is going for a jog in the woods.Killer - dark hooded clothing and a mask to cover his face.

Our film will be released in approximately 200 cinemas all over the country, then out on dvd and we will be advertising it in newspapers. We will produce a trailer and posters. We will also be showing our film in the cannes film festival in may to promote it to the industry. Alongside this we will also be having interviews with the main characters on tv and in magazines.
