Ab Lab & Simply Stretch - Our instructors have designed a high-energy workout that effectively targets the entire abdominal and back region. Following your ab workout, enjoy a targeted stretching workout. Crunch it into your busy schedule and mix it with some cardio to get results that you will crazy about. Barre - Full body workout that fuses the best elements of ballet, pilates, sports conditioning and stretching for a truly unique and fun experience. The moves are low impact but high intensity intervals of strength training followed immediately by deep recovery stretching Bootcamp - Calling all diehards - drop and give me 20! This total body workout contains sports conditioning moves, calisthenics, and invigorating drills based on speed, power, and agility. No coordina-tion required ... no choreography allowed. Intermediate to advanced level. Cardio Kickboxing - Ready to fight for the body you desire? Step into the kickboxing ring for the intense workout that knocks out calories with punches and kicks. Feel the power, experience the em-powerment! Cardio Combo Running, push-ups, medicine balls, stability balls … you name it and this class will have you doing it. We will keep you moving while having a great time! Flexible Core - This class is designed to enhance flexibility, posture and body alignment using rhythmic movements and strength conditioning. Find out exactly why “core” is the new buzz word and how it affects the rest of the body. Suitable for all levels Fitness After 50 - This comprehensive class has low-impact cardiovascular conditioning, muscular strength work, and flexibility exercises. We also do exercises designed to improve balance, coordina-tion, manual dexterity, and agility (both physical and mental). Your heart, lungs, muscles, balance, and energy will all improve – and you’ll have lots of fun along the way! Intermediate level. Fitness After 50 /Balance & Strength Express- This class is designed to help make everyday activities easier by increasing your balance and strength with both traditional and functional exercises that anyone can do. All in 30 minutes. HardCore- A forty minute workout designed to strengthen, sculpt and tone your core muscles! A great start to any cardio or strength class. Power Sculpt - Sculpt your body from head to toe using weights, tubing, bands, balls and more. Strengthen and define your muscles, lose fat, and increase your metabolism as you chisel the body of your dreams. Rebound - Bounce your way to fitness on your personal rebounder, a miniature trampoline. What a fun way to improve your cardiovascular health and increase your muscle tone. Step Dynamics - Hey, step veterans; it’s time to step it up a notch! This non-stop, high-energy workout will have both your brain and body working up a storm. Suitable for intermediate to advanced steppers. Y Cycle - This indoor cycling class will take you on a ride through the flat lands to the mountain tops. Come see why it's still the hottest workout trend in years. Since you control your own pace and resistance, you can make this workout as easy or as challenging as you desire. Class is FREE, but registration one day in advance is STRONGLY recommended. See “Helpful Information” below. Zumba® - Zumba fuses hypnotic Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves to create a dynamic fitness program. The routines feature interval-training sessions where fast and slow rhythms and re-sistance training are combined to tone your body while burning fat. Add some Latin flavor and international zest into the mix and you've got Zumba. Sculpt & Stretch Express - Be strong and supple! In one time-efficient workout, get both muscle sculpting combined with effective flexibility work. Silver Sneakers® Muscular Strength - Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to increase muscular strength, range of movement, and activity for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance, and a chair is used for seated and/or sta nding support. This class is open to ALL YMCA members and is suitable for beginning-to-intermediate older adult exercisers. Silver Sneakers® Cardio Circuit- We combine fun and fitness to increase your cardiovascular and muscular endurance power with a standing circuit workout. Upper body strength work using hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball is alternated with non-impact aerobic choreography. A chair is offered for support, head-to-toe stretching, and complete relaxation in a comfortable position. Intermediate-level. Silver Sneakers® Yoga – Yoga Stretch will move your whole body through a complete series of seated and standing yoga poses. Chair support is offered to safely perform a variety of postures designed to increase flexibility, balance, and range of movement. Restorative breathing exercises and final relaxation will promote stress reduction and mental clarity. All poses are performed seated or stand-ing. We do NOT lie on the floor. Tai Chi – Reduce stress, improve balance, posture and leg strength with the gentle, smooth, flowing movements of this special form of Sun-style Tai Chi. This course is approved by the Arthritis Foun-dation.

Hip Hop-Come learn a different way to move-fun like Zumba but faster paced.

Boom Move it-A higher intensity workout class that improves cardio endurance. Move It is all about breaking a sweet and having fun. The class focuses on cardio endurance by starting with simple moves then building into more complex sequences, bringing you a great cardio workout.

Boom Muscle-Muscle incorporates exercises that improve total body endurance and strength conditioning. The class moves though several blocks which are groups of exercises that focus on different muscle groups and overall conditioning.

Members Helpful Information

Unless ages are noted, classes are open to our members age 13 and up. Lakewood YMCA has available--- Our “Tween Option” classes! Classes designated as “ Tween Option” are regular adult-level (not child’s) classes; they are not lessened in any way, so adult participants get an effective workout. What makes “Tween-Option” classes spe-cial is that children ages 10 and up may participate at that time IF: (1) the parent exercises a long side the child, 2) the child can exercise safely in the class, and (3) the child is not disruptive in any way to the instructor or the adults in the room.

Reservation Policy: If you wish to set aside your place in any Rebound or Cycling class, you may reserve your spot up to one day in advance by calling 216-521-8400 or signing the reservation binder located at the first floor desk. This privilege is for members only (not guests). You must be inside the exercise studio abso-lutely no later than 5 minutes before class is scheduled to begin; if not, you forfeit your reservation and your spot will be given to whomever is waiting by the studio door. You may only reserve a spot for yourself and your immediate family (not for friends) – all others need to make their own reservations.

To fit with our family environment, clothing must be modest and appropriate for exercise. The abdomen must be fully covered; shorts must fully cover the exerciser’s backside during movement. Appropriately supportive undergarments are necessary. Jeans, boots, clothing with exposed metal or rivets, and non-breathable fabrics are not permitted. Shoes must be clean, safe and designed for gym exercise (no open toes or heels; no sandals). The YMCA staff reserves the right to decide on the appropriateness of any attire.

C.A.O.S. Calisthenics-Agility-Optimized Strength ---- Bring a little chaos into your exercise routine! This class will challenge your cardiovascular fitness and your muscular strength and endurance through fun, high-energy movements and exercises. Deep Stretch Yoga - Deep Stretch is exactly what the name implies. The class emphasizes flexibility in the major muscles as well as those surrounding the primary joints. Emphasis is placed on the breath to open space through the body and relieve physical and mental tension. An intense experience with poses held up to two minutes in the restorative fashion. Suitable for experienced and beginning students. Gentle Yoga - Focusing on stretching, breathing, relaxation and simple movements to increase range of motion of the major joints. Gentle Yoga is appropriate for students who simply prefer to move at a slower pace. . Pilates - Search no more for the secret to a firm, controlled, stable core. Using targeted Pilates movements and various tools such as Pilates rings, stability balls, and small mind/body balls, this class dramatically changes your core abdomen, oblique’s, and low back through high levels of complexity, intensity and precision. Tai Chi –Tai Chi is composed of gentle, graceful movements linked together in a continuous, smooth flowing sequence. Part martial art, part exercise program, and part meditation. Tai Chi when practiced regularly can increase flexibility, build strength, improve balance and coordination, relieve stress and enhance concentration. TRX – Utilize gravity and your bodyweight to strengthen your body, to build muscle, to lose fat, and to stabilize your core. This 50 minute class can help you achieve any fitness goal. Women On Weights II (WOW) – Ladies, have you completed WOW for a few months and need another step to reach those goals? WOW II is designed to help women take the next step in their fitness lifestyle and learn more advance movements and routines. Real You-Participants must commit to BOTH days Are those extra pounds hiding the real you? This 8-week program, unique to the YMCA, offers nutritional coaching, daily monitoring of food and activity online, 2 workouts per week plus homework activity, weekly weigh-ins and monthly measurements. Get the support you need from your experienced and knowledgeable coach to reach your goal and keep the weight off! Y Strength-This twice a week resistance training program focuses on increasing strength through the three major compound lifts: Bench Press, Deadlift & Squat. Each month will make up a block of training, working towards various goals - increased power, strength, conditioning and technique.
