The Autry is an intercultural history center dedicated to exploring and sharing the stories, experiences, and perceptions of the diverse peoples of the American West.The Education Dept. at the Autry provides a number of unique and engaging programs. Children will sit on the floor for performance. Caution them to sit quietly, not to touch puppets and strings, do not scoot forward and obstruct performance of marionette. Some marionettes are 3-4 feet tall, manipulated by puppeteers. Children are as interested in the puppeteers as the puppets. Children can see and hear puppeteers talking for the puppet as well as “work” the puppet strings.

The La Brea Tar Pits is important because the immense number of fossils found right here tells us what Los Angeles was like during the Ice Age 11,000 to 60,000 years ago.
