I’ve always wanted to be a kayaking instructor so the course module in leading outdoor and adventurous activities was really relevant to me as it gave me a chance to experience teaching and leading a group activity in my chosen subject. I did my work experience at the Herts Young Mariners Base, it was really good fun and somewhere I’d love to work when I fi nish the course.

Leading the fi eld in animal management, arboriculture, countryside management, environmental conservation, fl oristry, garden design, horticulture, landscaping, leatherwork, outdoor adventure and saddlery at centres across London.

At Capel Manor College you will be supported, inspired and we will help you achieve your goals. We have six centres across London and we run the Outdoor Adventure courses at our Enfi eld and Crystal Palace Park centres.

As a Capel student you will have an opportunity to gain nationally and internationally recognised qualifi cations and the prospect of progressing to further study, Higher Education, employment or starting your own business venture whilst learning in a unique and supportive environment. Unique because it combines academic excellence with practical skills in fi rst-class working surroundings.

Our Outdoor Adventure courses combine knowledge with practical application, developing your personal activity skills, activity management and leadership attributes. The course involves working outdoors so an interest in physical activity is key.

As well as learning new skills you will gain experience and knowledge in activity planning, map reading, fi tness training, coaching, team building, leadership and much more.

You will:

• learn about personal physical fi tness

• gain an understanding of the human anatomy

• take part in and lead water and land-based outdoor adventurous activities, including climbing, overnight expeditions, camping and white-water rafting.

• learn how to organise and manage expeditions (carried out during residential fi eld trips).

What next?

Successful completion of both our Level 2 and 3 courses will enable you to progress to Higher Education or employment in the outdoor activities industry.
