I take immense pride in sharing the several initiatives taken by CII Rajasthan in the last year
making the state's industrial climate more conducive to growth and strengthening the
institutional framework of CII in Rajasthan.
One of the big achievements is the allocation of three acres of land to CII for setting up of
Water Institute at Jaipur by Government of Rajasthan. The Water Institute is poised to be a
global centre of excellence on water management addressing issues of policy advocacy,
training, projects and a one stop shop for all water management issues.
It has been a satisfying year on policy front, as the efforts made during preceeding years
saw the pronouncement of Industrial Policy and Rajasthan Investment Promotion Scheme
2010. The Single Window Ordinance / Act and Single Window Clearance Portal; Rajasthan
Agri Business - Agro Industries Policy and the upcoming Solar Policy and Agriculture Policy
have the imprints of our efforts. It is indeed heartening that the representations to the state
government have been accepted.
In our pursuance towards bridging HR deficit, we have keenly worked for the Skill Development Centre at Bhiwadi, which
would improve employability of people in Rajasthan. In addition to this CII members have adopted 43 Government ITIs,
out of which 10 were adopted during last year. We also organised HR Conclave 2011 to share best HR practices and to
further enhance the industry - institute interaction.
Another significant achievement is CeraGlass 2010. CII in partnership with RIICO and Indian Ceramic Society
institutionalised a biennial event at Jaipur on Ceramics, Glass and Allied areas. The first edition was successfully
organised with over 180 national & international exhibitors and eight international conferences and buyer seller meets. The
event proved to be a major milestone in positioning Rajasthan as a major Ceramic and Glass manufacturing hub and not
merely a raw material exporting state. Government of Rajasthan has made an astute decision by developing a Ceramic
Hub at Gilot near Neemrana, powered by the supply of natural gas, the key prerequisite for the development of the sector.
The 6th Krishi Utsav organised at Sri Ganganagar exposed the farming fraternity to the best practices and techniques in
agriculture in local dialect at the Kisan Goshthis.
Reaffirming our commitment towards environmental concerns, on the eve of World Environment Day a National
Conference, 'Business Action on Climate Change' was organised, which was addressed by Hon'ble Chief Minister and
Hon'ble Minister for Environment.
To build and improve the competitiveness of member companies, workshops on Enhancing Competitiveness through
Energy Efficiency, seminars 'How to be a Star Performer', 'Workshops on 5S, 3M' and special sessions on 'Autonomous
Maintenance', 'Neuro Linguistic Programming' & 'Stress Free Living' were organised at various places across the state.
Quality Circle Competition was organised to promote learning through sharing among participating companies.
It had been a challenging yet stimulating and satisfying stint as Chairman, CII Rajasthan. I am sure my successor will build
on the edifice created with years of diligence and perseverance.
I would take this opportunity to thank Mr R M Khanna, Chairman, CII Northern Region; Mr Vijay K Thadani, Deputy
Chairman, CII Northern Region; Mr Salil Singhal, Past Chairman, CII Northern Region and Ms Charu Mathur, Regional
Director, CII Northern Region for their support and guidance. Special thanks to Mr S G Vyas, Vice Chairman, CII Rajasthan;
Past Chairmen, convenors and all members of CII Rajasthan for their time, inputs, resources and hard work.
Three Cheers to all of you !
