THE PROCESS:

1. Products must be presented to andapproved by VINTAGES’ Product Managerresponsible for Ontario Wines.

2. The products are tasted and will undergoa label and lab analysis.

3. The winery identifies the store locationsfrom the selected list and sends a requestfor distribution to the Product Manager.

4. The Product Manager will contact theappropriate District Managers for finalstore approval.

5. The Product Manager obtains a list ofLCBO store locations approved bythe District Manager and verifies the listwith the winery.

6. VINTAGES will issue a commitment letterto the winery.

7. Participating wineries are expected tohost in-store tastings for both customersand staff (for details on the programvisit www.lcbotrade.com and click onVINTAGES Tasting Program).

8. Products are required to meet a minimumsales target of six bottles per period per store;stores may discontinue ordering productsthat do not achieve these targets.

The following locations were selected basedon proven success with VQA products,a broad provincial distribution and a focusedVINTAGES strategy.

Ontario Go-to-Market ProgramAs a result of an Ontario government grant program1, it is now more attractive than ever forOntario wineries to sell wine to the LCBO. The VINTAGES Go-to-Market Program providessmall Ontario wineries with another chance to participate via a new ‘Direct Delivery’ distributionoption for Ontario VQA products. Participating wineries may select up to 10 locations from anLCBO retail store list, stores located in close proximity to the winery, or a mixture of both.

The Go-to-Market Program is intended for products outside of the regular VINTAGESprograms. For more details on VINTAGES’ programs, please visit www.vintages.com.

TO APPLY:

1. Winery representatives must meetwith the VINTAGES Product Manager responsible forOntario wines, to discuss the specific products.

2. Products designated to proceed must besubmitted through NISS (see www.lcbotrade.comto register for access).

3. Samples sent must include the followingpaper work:a. NISS submission print outb. Label analysis form with activeUPC/EAN on the label

c. Quote on company letterhead

4. Products must achieve quality standardsvia the VINTAGES tasting panel (1 sample) andlab analysis (second sample).

5. The lab sample must include a letter outliningthe submission sent in is the same as theproducts to be shipped to stores.

6. Once the product has passed tasting, labeland lab analysis, a commitment letter is issuedto the winery.

DELIVERY PROCEDURE:

1. Stores receive orders in the same manneras any other direct delivery product. Storesexperiencing challenges receiving direct deliverywill be directed to contact Retail/POS help desk.

2. A winery distributor code is issued to initiatethe payment process.

3. Wineries must contact Store Managers directlyfor repeat order approval and make arrangementsfor a convenient delivery schedule.

Resources available onlineNEW ITEM SUBMISSION SYSTEM (NISS)

LCBO launched the New Item SubmissionSystem in November 2005 to replace the manual,time-consuming process of submitting productsfor purchasing consideration on paper.

NISS is an easy-to-use, web-based tool thatallows agents and suppliers to:

• Submit products for review,• View LCBO Product Needs letters online,• Track a product submission online.

LCBO staff use NISS to log, track andapprove or decline submissions. This new toolspeeds up the application process and reducesturnaround times.

Suppliers and agents must become familiarwith NISS as the paper version of the new itemsubmission process is no longer in effect.

Suppliers or agents must apply for accessbefore they can use NISS.

To use NISS, suppliers or agents must fill in allmandatory fields of the Application for Accessto NISS form, and then print, sign and fax it tothe appropriate LCBO Business Unit: Wines,Spirits, Beers and Special Markets, or VINTAGES.

You must include your supplier or agentnumber on this form. If you do not know yournumber, then please contact the appropriateLCBO Business Unit for this information.If you are a new supplier who is not currentlydoing business with the LCBO, then you maysubmit an application without this number.Simply leave this area of the form blank.
