Educate. Inspire. Mobilize. Stop the Spread of HIV. IMPACT REPORT Thanks to your support, GRS Girls United with Christen Press raised $63,712 in 2014. This funding is making a critical impact in the lives of girls in southern Africa by supporting SKILLZ Street, Grassroot Soccer’s unique girls-targeted program utilizing the format of an after-school soccer league to educate and empower young women to avoid risky behavior and protect themselves from HIV. SKILLZ Street challenges gender norms by creating a safe space for young women to be themselves and learn new skills—while playing soccer, a sport traditionally reserved for boys in many communities. HEALTH EDUCATION Soccer-based activities empower girls with the knowledge and skills to live a healthier life. MENTORSHIP Our trained female Caring Coaches are role models, providing support, advice, and information. ACCESS Girls are introduced to the sexual and reproductive health services available in their community, and Caring Coaches will accompany participants to access these services. CONFIDENCE Girls are given the chance to play the traditionally male-dominated sport of soccer, and we see their confidence rise to new heights. THANK YOU FOR PROVIDING 1,275 GIRLS WITH:

“It means a lot to me to be a part of the Grassroot Soccer team. I am dedicated to building a new South Africa, a team that will fight HIV by all means. People are dying out there, so why should I watch people die? Let me be part of this team that is making progress, something I see that is working. To attract the youth, bring them all together, and share knowledge, share what we have. This is how we can build a new generation that will be free from HIV. I feel proud of myself. I am a Footballer.”
