ENGINEERINGExcELLENcEGRW is a leading South Africa based transport equipment designer, manufacturer, and service
provider of a wide range of sophisticated, cutting-edge road transport solutions.
Founded in 1996, GRW’s hub is its Worcester based manufacturing complex, housing extensive
ultra-modern production facilities where the finest technologies and procedures are employed by
highly qualified engineers, to produce world-class and ever-reliable trailers, invariably configured to
meet the unique transportation needs of each customer.
Serving industries that range from construction and mining to petroleum and chemical, fast-moving
consumer goods, perishable temperature controlled goods, palletised goods, and break-bulk general
cargo to a fleet of operators across Southern Africa, the Middle East, Australia and the UK, GRW is
committed to enhancing the productivity of its customers way beyond the production line.
Through Service Centres in Cape Town, Gauteng and Worcester, as well as maintenance agreements
with OEMs and a network of independent repairers, GRW guarantees broad, 24-hour after-sales
support network to its customers. Each Service Centre provides first-rate contract servicing, minor
repairs, roadside assistance, modifications, accident repairs, and a wide range of spares and rental
units, all in accord with the latest global industry developments and standards.
THE GRWSTORYIt all began in 1989, when Gerrie van der Merwe, then a leading lecturer in
Advanced Mathematics, took a bold step having identified a career opportunity
at his brother-in-law’s Worcester based transport business, Wynland Vervoer.
Three fruitful years of committed involvement soon became a family affair.
His sons Gerhard and Wentzel would too join the business, bringing along
their business associate and friend, Rossouw van Eeden.
Within a matter of months, the entrepreneurial trio, having discerned a
cumulative plea for significant modifications to the fabrication of existing
road tankers throughout the industry, decided to utilize their engineering
expertise and design and manufacture their very own new scale model. The
result: an elevated product that would soon overshadow its competitors.
Recognising that this was just the beginning, the three went on to create
GRW (Gerhard, Rossouw, Wentzel) in 1996: a progressive manufacturing
firm whose unwavering commitment to engineering excellence will
henceforth design and manufacture world-class road tankers and transport
solutions, always superseding the highest international specifications; a
dynamic manufacturer that looks to the future, keeping pace with a rapidly
progressing industry characterized by unremitting technological change.
Headquartered in Worcester, GRW’s manufacturing complex steadily evolved
into an extensive, ultramodern production facility, employing a brilliant array of
engineers, designers, quality control checkpoints, research teams, and leading edge
fabricating, cutting, and welding lines respectively, each continually
upgraded to keep pace, if not drive, global innovation.
Through the leadership of Gerhard van der Merwe (CEO), today GRW
is a bold, formidable and ever-evolving market leader both locally
and in the UK, employing over 750 associates. Through its highly
qualified, innovative, and committed people – the foundation of its
technologically advanced production process and service excellence
– GRW guarantees the supply of a diverse range of robust, state-of-
the-art road transport solutions with extended life-cycles, augmented
by unparalleled after-sales support in harmony with worldwide
transportation innovations and standards.

GRW TAUTLINERGRW employs best-practice technology and processes in their extensive ultramodern production
facilities to produce the industry benchmark for trailers. The company abides by the philosophy that the
true financial cost and benefits of a product do not lie in its initial purchase price, but more often in
its cost-effective maintenance, residual value, and life-cycle cost. An aggressive and unique approach to
change in our industry has resulted in a top-notch product – the Inkabi tautliner trailer – whose unrivalled
features and extended lifespan are designed to meet the unique needs of specific application requirements.
Inkabi, the ox in isiZulu, is a powerful beast. Admired, revered, feared, and respected in many cultures,
this magnificent animal has physical strength, a strong will and an uncompromising nature. The
muscle band around its neck and shoulders bolsters its imposing stature, reinforcing its appearance
of belligerence, stubbornness, and its unbending nature. The term ‘bull-headed’ is quoted with reason.
In addition to instilling confidence, the ox also symbolises stability, hard work, methodical
progress, and a rigid determination. All of these traits are to be found in the features of the
Inkabi tautliner:
• A lighter, stronger, more durable flooring of birch plywood that is permanently flat, and easily installed.
• A modular roof structure designed for longevity and superior operational performance.
• Fully-coated, UV-resistant curtains, with strengthening webbing and high-qualit tensioners.
• A high-strength steel chassis, with a combination of welded and bolted assemblies that combats fatigue in high stress areas.

GRW replaces the standard steel deck with a lighter; stronger, and more durable Phenolic
coated WISA-Birch Plywood. The floors are characterised by increased strength-to-
weight ratio; permanent flatness; increased payload capacity; greater forklift-loading
capability; easier replacement of damaged panels, and shorter manufacturing and
installation processes respectively. The modular construction allows for complete
chassis paint coverage before floor installation.

cURTAINs
To optimize the lifespan of its in-house manufactured curtains, GRW uses fully coated and
considerably more UV-resistant material than commonly used products, offering the market
‘taut’ side curtains that are bound to last. With inner and outer coating that preserve the
plasticizer in the material to prevent it from becoming brittle; high quality tensioners, and
supplementary strengthening webbing, GRW’s curtains are better protected against dirt,
scratches, and de-pigmentation, topped with high-definition, long-lasting and lacquered UV
printing that can be custom made for various trailer brands.
GRW adds strengthening webbing to its curtains to ensureproper wind up and additional load security
GRW’s newly designed roof covers are aimed at reducing water ingress.

cHAssIs
Painstakingly designed and rigorously tested using FEA and
strain gauges, GRW’s high-strength steel chassis is designed
for reliability and modularity; with a combination of welded
and bolted assemblies that increase fatigue life in high stress
areas, and clamped peripherals for greater flexibility and ease
of replacement.
PoWDeR coATING
To ensure top quality coating and the overall preservation of
your vehicle’s value in the long run, all GRW steel components
are shot blasted to the correct surface roughness before
entering the automated coating plant, where they are primed
and dried to perfection, finished with electrostatic powder
coating that is cured at 190°C to produce the best quality finish
with the highest stone-chip and rust breakthrough resistance
capabilities. The electrostatic method ensures 100% coverage
even in the smallest cavities and corners in the colour and
finish of choice.
