The German outsourcing market offers much space to grow

SOA is not only technology but can be seen as a mindset demanding a transformation of culture.

SOA standards will encourage an industrialisation of the sector.

SOA helps SME‘s and start-ups to easily offer their services and value add

Trends in the German Software market

Software Overview

Software market volume of EUR 14,70 billion with projected steady growth through 2009

Distinctive features of German software market are the strong presence of SMEs and the omnipresence of SAP

Growing fields include Software as a Service (SaaS), Virtualisation, Security, and Embedded Systems

ERP and CRM remain a major growth driver Business intelligence and enterprise content management tools are

emerging areas of investment

Page 20: GTAI and the German ICT Market

12.04.2023 | www.gtai.com 20

Software - SaaS

A growing number of SaaS products come to the market and European customers catch up with US companies in the use of this business model.

Market growth with CRM solution as driver

SaaS is the future model for E-Commerce (2013 ca. 40% of all E-Commerce offers will be realized on SaaS basis)

SaaS can help to reach good standard in „greening“ the IT (save energy and packaging materials, less transportation needed, less traveling..)

Software - Virtualisation

Using virtualisation opportunities helps to make better use of existing capacities, managing growing data volumes and lowering costs.

Server virtualisation is a huge trend in Europe, with Germany showing extremely high growth (61% of the computers purchased within last 12 months have virtualisation software)

Disaster recovery, back-up and availability are the sectors with highest growth (customers are large companies + SME‘s)

Storage virtualisation will become more important as the amount of data is increasing and a better use of data storage items will save costs + energy.

German market volume for IT security was 4 Bn € in 2007 (ca. 8% of the worldwide market estimate) and will increase to 5 bil € in 2009

In international comparison German users show a high need for security

With growing convergence and mobility in the IT the need for data protection is there to prevent economic damages due to security lacks
