Guideline for Sunshades – Spec, Design Requirements & Std Drawings Version 1.0 GU-631 Page 7 Dec 2009 2.2.1 General As Sunshades are specifically designed to protect equipment from solar radiation, their sizes are directly related to the angle of the sun during the most intense period of this solar radiation. Also, shading can be increased by installing side cladding; however a design check against the extra wind forces need to be made. 2.2.2 Materials All materials required for Sunshades shall comply with the relevant Standards listed in Section 1.4.2 of this specification Guideline. 2.2.3 Design All Sunshades designs shall be in accordance with the relevant Standards listed in Section 1.4.1.of this specification Guideline. 2.2.3.1 Steel Structure The steel structures, both with and without integral lifting facilities shall be designed in accordance with EN 1993 (or Eurocode 3).
