La Asociación de Editores en lengua vasca, fundada en 1984, reúne a las editoriales que publican en lengua vasca. El objetivo fundamental es la promoción y defensa de la edición en lengua vasca, así como la representación, gestión y defensa de los intereses comunes de sus miembros.

The Association of Publishers in Basque, founded in 1984, aims to group together all publishing houses that publish works written in Basque. The association’s main aim is to promote and defend the publication of works in the Basque language, and to represent, manage and defend the common interests of its members.

Una de las principales líneas de trabajo de Etxepare Eus-kal Institutua es la promoción internacional de la litera-tura vasca. A través de su programa de ayudas pretende fomentar su traducción con el fin de favorecer la difusión de escritores/as vascos/as y de sus obras en el mercado internacional.

Ayudas a la traducción de obras literarias- Se subvenciona la traducción a otras lenguas de obras li-

terarias escritas y publicadas originalmente en euskera.- También se ayudan las traducciones a otras lenguas

(excepto el euskera) de obras escritas originalmente en castellano por autores/as empadronados/as en la Comu-nidad Autónoma Vasca.

- Las subvenciones se adjudican mediante concurso, y to-das las solicitudes son analizadas por una comisión de valoración formada por profesionales del sector.

Ayudas a la traducción de muestras de obras literarias- Se subvenciona la traducción al inglés o francés de

muestras de obras literarias escritas y publicadas origi-nalmente en euskera.

- Las muestras no superarán el 15% del libro.- El/la autor/a deberá tener publicadas por lo menos dos

obras, y al menos una de ellas traducida al castellano.

One of the main endeavours of the Etxepare Basque In-stitute is to promote Basque literature around the world. Through its translation grants, the Institute supports the translation of Basque literature so that the work of Basque authors can reach an international readership.

Literary works covered by the grant- The translation into other languages of literary works

written and published originally in Basque.- The translation (into languages other than Basque) of

works originally written in Spanish by residents of the Basque Autonomous Community.

- Submissions must be tendered and will be evaluated by a committee of professionals from the literary sector.

Literary samples covered by the grant- The translation into English or French of samples of liter-

ary works originally written and published in Basque.- Samples must not exceed 15% of the complete book.- The author must have already had at least two works

published and one of them translated into Spanish.- The grants are awarded on a non-competitive basis, in

the order the applications are received, within the ap-plication period.

Selim’s story is painfully present in our daily lives. It is told by three people: the young Maghrebi herself, Esther, and the guide who helps her to secretly cross the border.

Oficialmente, la guerra entre máquinas y humanos había ter-minado hacía casi veinte años. Si querían prosperar, máqui-nas y humanos tenían que trabajar juntos.

Había ido de un pelo. Se había aferrado como había po-dido a la capa de hielo superficial, mientras percibía cómo sus perseguidores examinaban el agujero por el que se había lanzado a las heladas aguas del lago. Al final la habían dado por muerta, creyendo que ningún humano podría haber so-brevivido. Tenían razón, pero habían olvidado un detalle. Ella no era humana. Y la habían preparado para vencer todo tipo de obstáculos.

Officially, the war between machines and humans had ended nearly twenty years before. If they wanted to thrive, machines and humans had to work together.

She had got away by the skin of her teeth. She had clung as she could to the layer of ice at the surface, while she could perceive how her pursuers were having a look at the hole though which she had thrown himself into the icy water of the lake. In the end, they gave her up for dead, believing that no human could have lived through that. They were right, but they had forgotten one detail: she was not human. And they had prepared her to overcome all kinds of obstacles.

The main characters are Cosimo and a small park. Co-simo observes his surroundings from his tree house. The authors have updated Italo Calvino’s The Baron in the Trees, equipping Cosimo with new resources and set-ting the tale in society to unleash a cry for beauty.

Hace ya quinientos años, cuando el mundo era ancho y des-conocido, Castilla y Portugal decidieron dividirlo en dos, como si de una manzana se tratase, para poder engullir cada cual el trozo correspondiente a su manera. Castilla partió en 1519 por el sur y llegó en 1522 a su objetivo, en el que fue el viaje más largo realizado por los europeos hasta entonces. Salieron cinco barcos y 265 personas, y al cabo de tres años, regresó un único barco, lleno de especias, con los 18 marine-ros supervivientes al mando del capitán Elkano. Siguiendo al sol y navegando siempre hacia el oeste, atravesaron mares y dieron la vuelta al mundo, con la ayuda de un secreto oculto hasta nuestros días…

Five hundred years ago, when the world was huge and un-known, Castile and Portugal decided to split it in two like an apple. Each wanted to devour its own half in its own way. In 1519, Castile sent an expedition to the south and reached its objective in 1522. It was the longest voyage to date by the Europeans. Five ships left, crewed by 265 people. Three years later, just one returned, packed with spices and carry-ing the 18 surviving crew members and their captain, Elkano. Guided by the Sun, the ship sailed west across the seas and circumnavigated the world, with the help of a secret not re-vealed before now.

Al percatarse de que nadie tiene noticias suyas, todas las alarmas saltan en el interior de Edu, su buen amigo, a quien Matxin acompañó a Argentina huyendo de Euskal He-rria. La cabeza de Edu es un hervidero, y no es para menos visto todos los peligros posibles: ¿lo habrá secuestrado la ul-traderecha? ¿Tal vez los servicios secretos? ¿O habrá decidido volver a su tierra sin decírselo a nadie? Un cóctel de viejos fantasmas, temores, delirios y culpabilidad acecha a Edu, atra-pado en una espiral viciosa, hasta el punto de no saber quién o qué ha sido secuestrado.

The writing team for the Buenos Aires newspaper La Hoz are growing patient: Matxin’s article isn’t in yet. Matxin is also no-where to be seen. When his best friend Edu – who fled the Basque Country with him for Argen-tina – realises that no one has heard from him, alarm bells start to go off. Edu’s mind runs wild, and no wonder, given the possible dangers: What if he’s been kidnapped by the extreme right? The secret service? What if he’s gone back to his homeland without telling anyone? A melting pot of ghosts, fears, delirium and blame lies in store for Edu, who is trapped in a vicious circle to the point where he no longer knows who or what has been kidnapped.
