Guglielmo MarconiInventions

• During his early years Marconi had an intrest in Science and Electricity.• Marconi began to conduct experiments, building much of his own equipment

on the premises of Villa Griffone. His objective was to use radio waves to create a system of wireless telegraphy. This was not a new idea but he managed to assemble and improve a number of components, unifying and adapting them to his system.

• At the age of twenty he built a storm alarm made up of a battery, a coherer and an electric bell which went off if there was a lightning. He showed this experiment to his parents. His father was so impressed that he gave his son all of the money he had on him so Guglielmo could buy more materials for his invention.

• His invention of the wireless telegraph did not recieve any attention in Italy and Marconi moved to England in 1896. In London after many demonstrations Marconi began to recieve international attention. In 1899 the first demonstration took place in the United States. At the beginig of the 20th century Marconi began investigating the possibilities of signaling completely across the Atlantic. The first radio message to cross the Atlantic from North America was transmited on 17 December 1902.
