Goals
• Create a GUI front-end for satellite imaging software– GUI is to simplify the configuration and operations of the
simulation software– Import the data from the simulation software– Data management
• Develop an analysis tool for image processing– Propose and implement multiple sampling algorithms– Provide a performance trade-study analysis– Integrate the analysis tool into the GUI
Team Member Roles
• Paul Groves & Juan Rodriquez – In charge of GUI development between simulation
software and Matlab– Development of programmer’s and user’s manuals
• Christopher Romero & Manuel Perea– In charge of research and data analysis– Algorithm and trade study development

Size/Scope/Roles of Sponsor
• Our sponsors are primarily there for technical guidance. They are trying to give us the chance to think on our own as we would in an engineering firm.
• Help elaborate our victory conditions• Glynn Germany- Space weather expert• Raymond Jimenez- Senior Optical Physicist
Major Schedule Milestones
• Completed Sweep Tool December• Completed GUI February • Completed Algorithms March• Trade-Study Analysis April• Completed User’s Manual April• Final Report April• Final Presentation May
Deliverables
• Completed GUI for simulation software• Trade-Study analysis report• User’s Manual• Programmer’s Manual
Biggest Challenges & Concerns
• Matlab programming• Simulation software• Quantifying data sets• Developing algorithms• Conceptual understand of space weather
Why is this a good senior project?
• Apply theory to a challenging aerospace engineering problem
• Gain experience in satellite imaging and space weather
• Improvement of Matlab skills• Experience outside the classroom with top
scientists and engineers
