Wedding Tourism or Destination Wedding was defined for the first time in 2007 by Maggie Daniels and Carrie Loveless as “a wedding that takes place in a location that is not the residence of the groom or bride and which typically is a popular tourist destination”. This practice is not new and saw an incremental peak back in 1978 following airlines liberalization and the decrease of transport costs. Although media tend to only cover VIP weddings, nowadays over six thousand “ordi-nary people” a year choose Italy as the place to tie the knot.The tourist flow created by wed-dings - and all celebrations related to love - is constantly increasing and does not seem to be at all affected by the economic crisis. For these reasons the Destination Wedding phenomenon is of great interest and value for all entrepreneurs or professionals who work within the wedding industry. Indeed, these ceremonies bring significant eco-nomic contributions to the desti-nation and are often celebrated in an atmosphere of luxury and exclu-sivity. This said, it must be pointed

out that this market is not neces-sarily linked to luxury and aimed at couples with high spending power. There is, in fact, also a “medium” level market segment whose ex-pectations can be met by offering a unique travel experience. Italy is a recognized love destination: full of exclusive resorts, setting of novels and love movies and primary choice of many celebrities as the location for their dream weddings, Italy re-ceives free and relevant promotion from the bridal market.Quite often, however, the offer is not structured enough or in line with international market and customer demand cannot be satisfied. Italy, the land of Love, gives the opportunity of celebrating weddings in every possible way: religious, civil or symbolic in a number of diversified locations and for every budget. The versatility of this country has fascinated travellers from all over the world for centu-ries. The same operators in the wedding sector are training and strengthening themselves even more, in order to be able to better assist and help out wedding couples from all over the world. Choosing Italy as a wedding destination means creating an event that is destined to be an everlast-ing memory for everyone, from the wedding couple to their families and friends. It also means having a nearly unlimited choice of locations and services that can be provided for the event. When the desire of sharing the unique moment that bounds a couple to-gether meets the will to organise a special event that goes beyond the traditional molds, Destination Wedding dawns. It is the couple’s desire to celebrate a wedding, whether re-ligious, civil or symbolic, in a place that is away from home, but still ready to welcome and pamper its special guests. The whole of Italy can make the wedding dreams come true for couples from all over the globe, even those who do not wish for a high budget event. Choosing Italy as the destination for one’s wedding doesn’t actually mean one should expect higher and unclear costs. Quite the opposite, thanks to the ongoing development of Destination Wedding in our Country, it is possible to plan a unique wedding with lower budgets; still managing the event according to the couple’s desires and adjusting their traditions to the ones we have in our country. In Italy every wish can come true while feel-ing at home, even when home is a thousand miles away.

The last train left in 1954, then the place be-came ruined and roofless. In 2001, the station was brought back to life by a group of young people and converted into a restaurant with rooms: a haven of peace. From here, you can easily reach Corleone, with its Mafia museum and its churches, Marineo with its ethnological Museum, and Agrigento and its Temples Valley.
