GUIDE TO WINNINGAT THE EDGE

01/08INTRODUCTIONWe live in remarkable times. The cables have been cut and our smart phones and tablets provide untethered access to an ever-expanding wealth of content. We watch what we want, when we want. We live-stream video to the world and participate in live streaming trivia games with millions of participants around the globe – all from our mobile devices. Generations of connected users are expanding. The amount of data generated daily, its growth rate, and ever-increasing demands for continuous access are increasing at an exponential rate. There is no going back.

This is a new frontier. As a whole, these stakeholders have never played together. And left to their own devices, the third wave of the internet (mobility) could result in a repeat of Web 1.0.

02/08THE CHALLENGEInfrastructure providers are tasked with delivering a positive user experience at a profit. This is no small feat. The wonders of AI, VR, driverless cars, and marvelous new applications being created daily depend on our ability to deliver. Providers of fiber, data centers, towers, mobile network operators (MNOs) and content delivery networks must scale their networks and technology now. Failure isn’t an option. The future is today and we need to deliver it.

We face two enemies. First and foremost is latency, evil destroyer of all things streaming. The second is inertia in the form of maintaining status quo business practices. There is tremendous buzz around the future of the edge and how it will help. Pushing to the edge separately is not the solution. Just as consumers are perpetually connected, so must providers of infrastructure be. These are new economic times, pushing for a new era of co-opetition, interdependency, and interconnection.

03/08THE SOLUTION: WINNING AT THE EDGE TODAYTo win, the industry needs to be less complicated, less expensive, and come out of its respective corners. What does winning mean? Every partner in the ecosystem succeeds financially at the same time the consumer’s user experienceand satisfaction ratings soar.

How do we win? We need to move content, compute, and storage closer to the consumer. This will eliminate latency, reduce backhaul, improve customer experience, reduce churn, and improve advertising ROI.

Until now, there hasn’t been a way to deliver zero latency at the mobile edge. Enter EdgeMicro’s highly scalable micro colocation model. Coupled with our innovative and patent-pending local break-out solution, our platform unleashes enormous potential for content delivery and applications requiring continuous feedback loops. Think AR/VR, robotics, streaming gaming, telemedicine and driverless cars.

Moving content and computing to the extreme edge of the network is a win-win-win for consumers, content providers and cellular providers, because it reduces latency, makes content far more accessible, and reduces operating costs in a signi icant way.

Monolithic data centers and Carrier Hotels outside the largest interconnect markets of New York, Northern Virginia, Dallas, Los Angeles, Silicon Valley and Chicago.

Mid-size data centers in Tier 2 & 3 cities funded and occupied by the cable companies and CDNs. Each deploying dozens if not hundreds of racks at each site.

04/08THE TRANSFORMATION AGEVideo, streaming music, gaming, and cloud applications are now being accessed by smart phones and tablets via mobile networks way more frequently than from fixed broadband networks. We are entering the digital transformation age in an untethered world. One with an accelerating, voracious appetite for content delivered with increasingly lower latency.

To deliver this, a relatively new class of "edge colocation providers" has emerged to meet the demands of 70% of Americans who reside in Tier 2 & 3 markets:

We are entering the digital transformation age in an untethered world. One with an accelerating, voracious appetite for ever more content delivered with increasingly lower latency.

MICRO DATA CENTER AT THE EDGEWhat’s missing but absolutely required for this untethered transformation is a colocation solution that is MUCH CLOSER to mobile consumers that:

Offers an opex model for applications requiring only small chunks of cache or compute capacity - from a few racks down to a single rack unit.

Is located at hundreds of select cell tower and fiber junction sites across the country.

Utilizes a simple, highly scalable micro data center.

Delivers a CONSISTENT CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE wherever it is deployed.

EdgeMicro is the only company with the vision, technology, and partnerships to truly bring the mobile internet as close as possible to end users on a global scale.

IF CONTENT IS KING, WHO GETS TO WEAR THE CROWN?The challenge for content providers is to deliver low latency access to the streaming content and games that consumers demand. Storing popular content closer to the consumer is the only way to eliminate latency. The providers who are able to deliver mobile advertising ROI along with a stellar user experience, while simultaneously reducing backhaul expenses, will be crowned.

Stakeholders with telecom real estate portfolios will greatly increase the value of those assets with EdgeMicro data centers installed on-site.

06/08LANDLORDS AND TENANTS – LET’S GET STICKYLandlords are constantly seeking ways to make their assets stickier to the tenants. Tower companies will greatly increase the value of their assets by having these micro data centers installed within or adjacent to their compounds. And in this case, giving their tenants (the MNOs) direct access to highly coveted content will be the differentiator in the selection process for new sites or the decision to extend existing leases.

Similarly, ISPs and MSOs can monetize their extensive portfolios of central offices and head-ends by partnering with EdgeMicro to install micro data centers (loaded with third party content) directly adjacent to these critical fiber junctions.

Unlimited data plans, streaming content, gaming and the consumers’ love affair with mobile connectivity are creatingthe perfect storm for MNOs. Consumers want more, faster, cheaper, now! EdgeMicro is positioned to help mobile networks thrive through partnerships with global content and cloud providers. Our edge solution protects MNOs and their customers from the evils of latency today.

WIN-WIN-WIN: CONSUMERS, CONTENT

PROVIDERS AND CELLUL AR PROVIDERS

LOWER CHURN AND CONGESTION RELIEF FOR MOBILE OPERATORS

One thing that makes our model so attractive to MNOs is how it enhances their existing technology without risky changes to how they operate their networks today.
