Guide to Participating: What to Expect and What You Will Need 

Here’s what to expect during your on‐line LEED Green Associate Exam Preparation course 

Technology you will need • Internet access – browser Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safar, Chrome, Opera;  •  Media software: Windows Media, Real, or Quicktime;  •  Speakers to listen to the audio;  •  Flash to see the slides and listen to the audio.  

Log on anytime‐ Access to your on‐line classroom will be given to you a few days prior to the scheduled start date.  You can enter your online classroom any day of the week, at any time, and as often as you wish.  To maximize your learning, it is recommend that you log on and participate at least 3 days per week. You can participate according to your schedule and needs.  

Start and end date for your on‐line‐ Your two‐month course has a start and end date, and is 8 weeks in length.  When registering the course start and completion date will be outlined. 

There are no live sessions‐Your instructor will be in your online classroom several times a week but there will be no scheduled live sessions.   Your course has 8 Units‐ For each Unit, you have:  

• Content: includes online readings, instructor audio presentations, and other video’s. • Assessment‐ graded quizzes for each unit  • Discussion ‐online written questions, comments and responses. 

Course pace ‐In general, you spend one week per Unit. If for any reason you are unable to participate one week, or you just want to spend more time on a Unit, you can always “go back” to a previous readings and/or presentation. 

Instructor’s availability throughout the course‐ Your instructor is there for you throughout the course, and will log on several times a week to answer questions and make comments.  

Online Readings‐ Each Unit has one or more online readings. (10‐20 pages  per Unit) 

Listen to the Audio Presentations‐ Each Unit has one or more audio presentations recorded by your instructor, along with slides you watch while listening.   

Ask questions and participate in discussions‐There is a discussion area in your on‐line classroom where you can read other students comments, read your instructor’s comments and responses to questions.  To maximize your learning, you are encouraged to ask questions, and respond to others’ comments.  Generally, each discussion last for a period of one week and covers one unit. 

Take the Self Quiz‐ When you are ready; take the self quiz for the Unit you are studying.  Once you have completed the quiz you can immediately see your results.  These quizzes are meant to help you learn, so you can take quizzes as often as you’d like.
