GUIDELINES FOR ACCESSING THE ONLINE SAFEGUARDING TRAINING

It is a requirement for anyone who holds a role within the church, as part of the Safer Recruitment process, whether paid or unpaid, to complete the online Safeguarding training, within three months of starting in the position and to ensure that this training is renewed every three years.

Both modules of the online training need to have been completed within the last three years, prior to attending face-to-face Safeguarding training. You can refresh your knowledge with the online training at any time.

Only one email address can be used per account, therefore if you share your email address with another person who also needs to complete the online Safeguarding training, you will need to create a one off email address to enable both of you to create an online account for the training.

A family member, friend or a member of the church can sit with you to press the required keys to complete the online training, if you do not feel confident with using a computer, although all answers must come from you.

If you prefer not to do the training all in one go, you can log out and when you next log back in, you will be taken directly to the last place you reached in the training.

Please find below the information on how to access the Online Safeguarding Training for both the Adult and Child modules. (If you have accessed the training, but are having difficulties with completing any of the modules, please skip to Step 4, pages 18-20 for assistance prior to contacting the Safeguarding team or if you just require the enrolment key for Child Safeguarding the word to enter is: snowdrop and for Adult Safeguarding the word to enter is: poppy.

Click on all the images, as required, prior to clicking the next button, if the next button does not appear and you can only see the back button, you will need to ensure that you have clicked on all the images, arrows or bullet points within that screen, before the next button will appear.

After you have completed the first chapter, it will take you back to the main screen, scroll down and you will see a tick next to chapter one to confirm that you have completed this.

Chapter 2 will then appear, please click on this chapter and go through this, the same as you did for Chapter one.

As you complete each chapter a tick will appear beside it, so you will know which chapters you still need to complete.

There are knowledge questions to complete at the end of some of the chapters and it will not allow you to move onto the next chapter until these have been answered correctly, however you can have as many attempts as required and it will inform you which questions were answered correctly and the information in relation to an incorrect answer, therefore you will be able to provide the correct answer when you attempt the quiz again.

After having completed all the chapters, at the very end there will be questions on the training as a whole.

Once you have answered these correctly, you will be awarded your certificate with your name and date already entered.

Please then completely log out and log back in again, prior to accessing the other module that now needs completing i.e. E-Learning Adult Safeguarding 2019 or E-Learning Child Safeguarding 2019 and see either Section two or Section three accordingly.

Parish Safeguarding Representatives can request a report of all those who have completed the online Safeguarding training for their parish from us, which will list who has completed the online Safeguarding training for the parish and when.

If you are not able to print your certificates at the time or have misplaced either of your certificates, you can log into your online training account any time and when you scroll down the page you can click on ‘My Certificates’ under the miscellaneous section and it will display your certificates for downloading and/or printing.
