Aspects to be Addressed
• Design• Installation – Dismantling
Maintenance & Repairs • Stop switches, pull wire , pre-start
devices (min 10 sec),guards & nip guards
• Belt illumination
DESIGN CRITERIA
• Materials which the conveyor belt is made of in order to minimise the risk of any part of the conveyor belt catching fire;
• Adequate lightning protection / warning system.
Design Continue CROSSING OVER-BRIDGE
• Clearance requirements for persons and vehicles;
• Handrails and kickboard requirements;
• Prevention of slipping / falling;• Sufficient number of cross over
walkways
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
• COP must address the scheduling of
maintenance, inspections and over inspections.
• This should include identification of components critical to the safe operation; and regular inspection of these components.

• This annexure forms part of the guideline and must be consulted in preparation of the COP.
• Relevant MPS should be included in the COP.
