Continuing Education at Guilderland will offer on-line registration with credit card payments. On-line registration with a credit card is the fastest way to secure your spot in upcoming

classes.

Check payments may also be mailed in. Registration forms may be filled out, printed and mailed to us with a check payment. The

full brochure and registration forms will be posted to our website. For those without computer access, you may call and request a full copy of the brochure to be mailed. Brochures are

also available in your local library.

This will give everyone a welcomed option to register for our programs.

ELIGIBILITY REGISTRATION PROCEDURE

Courses are open to all persons in the Capital District Region age 16 and over unless otherwise stated.

You should consult your physician before participating in any dance or exercise program. Enrollment

priority is given to Guilderland Central School District residents. There are NO PHONE

REGISTRATIONS. To register: you can register online at https://guilderlandrevtrak.net or FOR

EACH REGISTRANT and EACH COURSE, fill out the enclosed registration form, enclose correct fee,

CONFIRMATION OF CLASSES

CONFIRMATION of registration will NOT be sent to registrants. Please check our website for class

confirmation at www.guilderlandschools.org/academics/continuing-education. Only classes will be

listed, NOT individual registrants.

REFUND POLICY

Your continuing education program is a self-sustaining program with all expenses paid out of

registration fees. It is necessary to cancel a class if enrollment does not support the cost of the course

and checks will be returned. No refunds, therefore may be given after classes have started. If a

registrant cancels prior to the start of the first class, a refund, less a $10 cancellation fee, will be given.

No refunds will be given for one or two-night courses after registration closes. Please be advised that

refunds can take three to four weeks. No school credit is given for any course.

CLASS TONIGHT?

Whenever the district schools are closed due to inclement weather or for other emergency reasons,

classes will not meet that night. Announcements concerning closing of evening adult programs will be

broadcast over radio stations: WGY, WROW, WTRY. In addition, this information can be found on the

district website at www.guilderlandschools.org and the Public Access Channel 16.

SENIOR CITIZEN POLICY (Age 60 and over)

Seniors residing in the Guilderland CSD are permitted to enroll in most Continuing Education classes at

a 50% discount. Senior citizens should X the “YES” box next to “Senior Citizen” on the registration form.

Senior citizens WILL be required to pay the regular registration fee for courses if the fees are needed to

maintain self sufficiency.

ADULT CPR/AED/FIRST AID

ASHI CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid combination training was

created to allow instructors an easy option for their students seeking

a comprehensive training class. The program helps develop basic

first aid knowledge, skills, and the confidence to respond. CPR,

AED, and Basic First Aid combination training is an excellent choice

for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the

2015 AHA guidelines update for CPR, ECC, and First Aid.

ADULT FIRST AID/CPR/AED

Emergency Care & Safety Institute (ECSI) is life saving training,

simplified. This class is designed to prepare you to provide first aid,

CPR and use an automated external defibrillator (AED) in a safe,

timely and effective manner. With a 100% classroom training, led by

a certified ECSI instructor, this “in-person” course combines lecture

with hands on skills. This will give students ample time to ask

questions and become comfortable with the latest techniques while

earning their certification. ECSI certification meet job-related

requirements throughout the United States and across the globe.

ECSI is also recognized by such authorities as OSHA, The Joint

Commission and the State Offices of EMS, Education, and Health.

BARREFLOW

A challenging total body workout, designed for all fitness levels.

BarreFlow combines aspects of yoga, Pilates, Barre Fitness and

BASKET WEAVING FOR ALL LEVELS

Basket makers of all levels are welcome. This is a good class if

you’re new to basket weaving, need a refresher course if it’s

been a while or just want a reason to weave again. New

students will complete 4 baskets while learning the basics of

traditional basket weaving. Basket making materials will be

supplied by the instructor for an additional fee. Materials fee for

new students will be $40 payable to the instructor at the first

session. Time permitting additional baskets can be made on a

cost per basket basis. Returning weavers will continue with

baskets of their choice. Materials fee for returning students will

be determined at the first session. The following items will be

needed at the first session: tub for soaking reeds (at least 12” by

12” by 6” deep), old bath towel, pencil, ruler, cloth tape measure,

utility knife, awl or ice pick, kitchen scissors, heavy duty spring

type clothes pins, 4” cable ties, and spray bottle.

This class is specifically designed for those with larger bodies.

The benefits of yoga are extensive and are NOT restricted to

only those with skinny bodies! Through the use of props and

modifications-specifically for bigger bodies-students will access

new realms of strength, confidence and flexibility and achieve a

calmer mind and greater self confidence.

BIRDING YOUR BACKYARD

Birds add color and beauty to our yards. In this two hour

workshop, we will cover how best to attract birds to our backyards,

as we discuss types of feed and feeders and how water and

shelter, including plantings are also important factors. We will show

photos and discuss how to identify common and less common

birds that visit our yards and discuss how to address issues such

as squirrels, hawks and birds hitting windows. Bring your

questions!

CHAIR YOGA

Yoga stretching with the aide of a chair allows almost anyone to

join in to a gentle form of movement. Poses are done seated in,

or holding onto a chair for support. Yoga works the joints and

muscles to increase strength, flexibility, circulation and balance.

This class goes beyond typical exercises in that it encourages

quiet reflection, proper breathing and better posture. This is a

great class for senior citizens and/or those with limited mobility.

No yoga experience is required.

CHINESE SOCIAL CONVERSATION

This class, which is taught by a native Mandarin Chinese speaking

teacher, will focus on both speaking and listening daily

conversation. At the end of the session you will be able to

communicate using basic phrases. You are sure to learn that this

is a fun, interactive class which will provide you with new language

skills!

running related injuries, the importance of proper warm up and

cool down, as well as the use of different recovery tools. Come

manage shin splints, plantar fasciitis, knee and hip pain. This

This is a dance program using the principles of yoga while you

dance. You’ll stretch, work your heart, your mind and your whole

body. Let Your Yoga Dance is for anyone at any level. It is fun

and challenging at the same time. Each class will have a yoga

warm up and cool down and plenty of dance. Insert some joy into

your life!

PROGRAM

Program is a 6 hour course, completed in two evening sessions.
