During my career of more than 20 years, I havehad the privilege of learning and truly under-standing flamenco music while on the job,rehearsing and performing it. Years of touringwith Spanish dance companies, years of nightlyclub performances accompanying great dancersand mediocre ones, great singers and not-so-great singers, have engraved on my mind anatural understanding and love for this greatmusic.

Even more years of close friendship withAgustin Castellon "Sabicas", his brother Diego,Pepe "Habichuela" and his family, and withJuan Maya "Marote", my compadre (my son's

godfather), have shown me the majesspiritual beauty of flamenco music. M
