Live music fans, congratulations; Rocky Mountain Tavern’s legendary
Battle of the Bands is back!For years now RMT has been hosting one of the biggest and best competitions for amateur live music in Korea. We’re talking a serious battle here, with 15 terrific bands fighting it out to be #1 over the course of a month of rockin’ out.
The battles will take place on 4 consecutive Friday nights starting at the end of this month. For the first three Friday nights (Nov. 25th, Dec. 2nd and 9th) 5 bands will take the stage and try to get the crowd riled up and the judges in their favor. The winner of each night will move onto the finals along with a single ‘wild card’ - the second place finisher with the highest point total.
Then comes the grand finale on Friday, December 16th, when the four remaining bands fight it out to determine who is the winner of RMT’s Battle of the Bands, which comes with over W1,000,000 in cash and prizes in addition to bragging rights. Three expert musicians will be judging and bands will be evaluated on things like entertainment value, vocals, band member instrument ability - and of course its hard for the judges to not respond to a rocking crowd!
Each and every night of the 2011 Battle of the Bands will get started with a live performance from another local legend, the Lance Reegan-Diehl Trio, at 9:40 pm. From there the battling bands will take the stage to duke it out. Each band gets exactly 30 minutes to perform, with things wrapping up at 1:30ish.
