B It was Easter Monday. It was a very windy day and just right for
the big board kite David's father made to climb high in the air.
David and his father walked to the park to fly the big kite. David
held the string while his father held the kite above his head. As
soon as he let it go, it caught the wind and flew upwards like a big
blue bird.
"Let out some more string!" shouted his father. . "Go on! As much
as you like!" Higher and higher flew the kite. Soon it was just a dot
dancing in the sky miles above their heads. David was excited to
stand there holding on to something that was so far away, even
though he had to struggle to hold it since the wind had the kite
dancing in the sky.

c Our lighthouse is in Kingston, Georgetown. It is a tall, beautiful
building made of red bricks. There are small windows on the
building. Inside the lighthouse, there are one hundred and thirty- ·
five steps from the ground to the tower which is found at the top of
the building.
In the tower, there is a revolving bulb. A bright light from this bulb
shines out to the ocean as well as in the Demerara River. This
light helps to guide crews of ships safely to the harbour in
Georgetown.
At the very top of the building is a platform on which one can
~ stand and look out at the Atlantic Ocean. It is also possible to see
all around Georgetown from this platform.
