“fixins” and cobblers. Arvell Williams did a great job of auctioneering. and, of course, we are especially appreciative of the artists who put so many hours into their craft: Christy smith, Eldon Fortenberry, Kayla Landers, annie Mill-er, Karen abney, Darla Parks, Mysedia smith, Russell Coleman, and greg Conn. thank you for putting your talents to work on behalf of our residents! thank you so much to all of you who participated in both the live and silent auctions! We hope you will en-joy telling the stories about how you came upon your unique item. I heard (afterwards) that the seeker’s sunday school Class of FuMC did such a good job of filling beverage glasses that we were totally out of beverages by the end of the evening. I apologize to our thirsty supporters and sing praises to the workers! speaking of singing; Billy Dean did an awesome job. I think his songs hit home with many of us and he was charming and good natured to boot.

We had a very active month in July. We kicked the month off with a 4th of July celebration starting on the 3rd in the Lamar Room. On the 4th, we had the traditional BBQ luncheon; the ribs were from senior Citizens and the best I have ever had along with all the trim-mings from the kitchen. after the meal, Laura showed a Patriotic film in the Lamar Room and served refreshments. Oh, I can’t forget the parade on the 2nd. a big thanks to Laura & Christina for taking the residents from the Manor to the parade. Westgate also had the won-derful BBQ lunch and after lunch they had a 4th of July Bingo Party and refreshments. I would like to thank Wesley Methodist Church and Church of Christ for coming once a month for food, fun, and fellowship. We truly appreciate what you do for the resi-dents. On the 14th, at Westgate, we had a Luau. Becky Mullins in activi-ties worked so hard on Luau deco-rations that it was hard to put them away. We had traditional Luau food and Becky also made the most wonderful fried rice. the residents had a great time eating the rice with chopsticks. What a great vacation and we didn’t have to travel far! On the 16th, we had our annual Found-ers BBQ at the school administra-tion building. as usual everyone worked so hard. the music, food, and fellowship were great. On the 18th, Leshea took the residents for senior Citizen game night. thank you Leshea for all your help. We had our monthly men’s luncheon on the 20th in the Lamar Room.

Activity Newsthe maintenance staff always cooks up a pretty great steak for ev-eryone. as July came to an end, we always celebrate at the Manor and Westgate with a Monthly Birthday Party. We appreciate the ladies from the churches that come every month with a big heart and great cakes; you are truly appreciated. as July is over and august is here, please be sure and check your cal-endar for special upcoming events highlighted in red. It’s hard to believe that the kids are back to school soon and the summer has passed so fast. I wish everyone a great august.

AngelsAmong UsKesha tapia and her band of little winged creatures set up camp at the track for Relay for Life on one of the hottest days of the year (the

hottest year in decades!). Kesha raised the money, ordered the shirts and headed up the team. sweat-

ing along with her in their little tent were: Laura Cervantes, Kayla Landers, Christina Reyna, Julie Lueb, Mary Rocha, Ofilia Sala-zaar, and Laura acuna. among the teammates were Becky Williams, Robin smith, Brenda Blacksher, and Chris Martinez. Many other King’s Manor employees walked to support Relay for Life. these ethereal beings gave their time and energy in the fight for cancer. We appreciate Kesha and all of her fel-low relay walkers!
