Biotic Relationships

Scenario:A forest fire clears a whole forest down to an empty burnt field. As time passes, grasses, weeds, flowers and even trees start to grow back. In the first year all the plants are small and intermingled. In the second year the young trees are starting to out grow the smaller plants, but there is still a lot of light passing through the leaves. After about ten years, the large trees have now shaded the entire area and formed a young forest.
