People who suffer from anorexia use a brain region associated with making decisions about what to eat, an area people without the disorder do not use in making such choices. Brain scans of 21

anorexic women were compared to 21 women without the disorder. The anorexic women chose less high fat foods than the non-anorexic group. The brain region anorexic patients used in making

their decision was the dorsal straitum, an area known to be involved in control of actions
