Habit #6 Synergizing • Activity #2 Name Tag Match Maker

Participants directions: Listen Carefully. 1. Put your name in the center of your card. 2. In the upper left corner, write four things that you like to do. 3. In the upper right corner, write your four favorite singers or groups. 4. In the lower left corner, write your four favorite movies. 5. In the lower right corner, write four adjectives (words that describe) that describe you. When everyone finishes, have them mingle with the group for a few minutes. Without talking, read the upper left corner of the other group members' cards. Now, find one or two people who are most like YOU and visit for 2 minutes. When time is up, YOU are to mingle again reading the upper right corner of the other group members' cards. At the end, find the one or two people most like YOU and visit. Repeat with the lower left corner and lower right corner information.

Habit #6 Synergizing

Question 1

How do we overcome challenges?

Question 2

Would it be easy if we were all the same?

Habit #6 Synergizing • Activity #3 Lab Sit Directions: Everyone in the room forms a huge circle side by side. Now, make half a turn to the right. This should now look like everyone is in line facing the back of the person in front of him or her. Put both hands on the shoulders of the person in front of YOU. Now, everyone needs to sit. Everyone needs to sit back on the knees of the person in back of YOU.

• Small people should always be in front of large folks! Trust each other!

Habit #6 Synergizing • Activity #4 All Aboard Directions: The Rules:

“Inside the hula hoop” means that no one may touch the outside ground. You cannot use anything else in the room to assist you. Say, "You have 5 Minutes to complete the job." and repeat "Your job is to get as many people in the hoop as you choose, move quickly."

Process: Each group/team needs to rate their effectiveness on a 1-10 scale (1 meaning you didn’t

work well together, 10 meaning your group was extraordinary working together). Discuss and comment on results of the evaluation of each group.

Habit #6 Synergizing • Activity #5 Build a Car Directions: Using typing paper, each group is to draw the outline of a car. Groups continue to add components to the group car and explain what it stands for and how they can relate that to the team. Groups will judge the most efficient and effective cars.

Habit #6 Synergizing • Activity #6 Self-Esteem Valentines

Goals: Every group needs to think positively Materials: Pink, Red and White Hearts pre-cut out of construction paper, pens or pencils or markers Directions: Each group member writes their first name on the heart. Then, each heart is passed around for everyone in the group so that they can write things that they admire, like or enjoy about the person in the group.

Habit #6 Synergizing

Activity #7 Pledge to Synergize: Please stand and recite.

I have learned to value other people’s strengths and weaknesses. I have learned from them.

I commit to work well in groups and get along with others. I am ready to seek out new ideas and solve challenges. Today, I am a better person.

Habit #6 Synergizing

• Activity #8

Where are you?

Post it up!

Habit #6 Synergizing • Activity #9 Make a Bridge and Roll

Goals: Cross the ball across the bridge (with two jump ropes) as many times as the group can, alternating group members. Objective: Cross the ball from one side of the room to the other side, on the bridge. Group size: Make at least two groups. Split the group in half and assign them to and the opposite side of the room. Materials: Jump rope, ball Directions: Design a bridge with the two ropes, and complete the objective as many times as the group can before time is up.

Review: Habit #6 Synergy is the most effective work activity of two or more individuals in an effort to produce a greater more efficient result than the sum of separate work efforts!
