In closing, our centennial mile-stone and Founders Day is a

great opportunity to reflect, re-new, and revive your Delta spir-it. Some of us have developednew year resolutions. I encour-age you to add Delta in this res-olution. It is our honor and dutyto walk on the shoulders of our22 illustrious founders throughthe next 100 years.

My resolution (in Delta) is toread my ritual during my spir-itual readings each week. My

goal will be to reflect on thewords and my actions often sothat I can be and do my best inDelta and in my life.

I am so proud to be your Soror.I am so happy to call you all myHAC family. Each of you in-spire, and empower me to be abetter woman. Thank you forsharing who you are with all ofus.

Our December 2012 Readingwith the Keiki program was aHoliday HIT! Thank you to the

celebrated Kawanzaa with the GEMS, EM-BODI, and their families at Ford IslandCommunity Center. What a wonderful cele-bration organized bySoror Leslie Warren.We learned about theprinciples, sand togeth-

er, ate (I am mean ate)together.

Sorors, the Centennial Kick-off was AMAZING! Westarted on the buses to the Parade at 4:00 am. As tiredas we all were (except me because yall know I LOVETHE MORNING), we were EXCITED. We arrived atthe Rose Bowl location around 6:00 am. We had fivebuses taking us to the location. Many sorors drovethemselves. There was a sea of crimson and cream.Not to mention, the two Rose Bowl team colors justhappened to be red and white.Once we arrived, we walked down Colorado Road tofind our seats. With the purchased seats from SharpSeating, we all had bleacher seat locations throughoutthe parade. As I walked towards my bleacher seat, Isaw a man selling seat cushions. I quickly bought one,LOL!Once the parade started, it was exciting. The floatswere beautiful. Some from Disney, HGTV, Interna-tional Airlines, Macy, and even a bride and groomgetting married. Then came our float. I had butter-flies in my stomach. Watching it and our walking so-rors was so exhilarating. Then as it passed, one of mybleacher neighbors said, hey, that is beautiful, who isDelta...Sigma...Theta? I guess they then saw my Pa-rade jacket and tapped me and asked again. In myproudest voice, I said, we are a sisterhood dedicated topublic service and we are the first black greek organi-zation with a float in the parade, not to mention, this isall in honor of our centennial celebration.

Once the parade ended, I rushed home to prepare forthe evening Hollywood Gala. It was at Club Nokia inHollywood. We arrived and watched our beautifulexecutive committee and centennialcommittee members on the red car-pet.

The show began with our host, BlairUnderwood, Soror Tkeyah CrystalKeymah, Roland Martin, SororDaphne Maxine Reid, Soror KikiShepard, Soror Kim Whitley andSoror Sheryl Lee Ralph. We heardbirthday wishes via video from BillCosby, and Harry Belafonte. Therewere several awards given out to no-tables such as Danny Glover, KarenBass, Sorors AJ Johnson and CaroleJordan-Harris. Then we watched per-

formers such as Ledisi, Angela Winbush, ElaineGibbs, and Faith Evans. It was in TRUE Hollywoodand Soror Sheryl Lee Ralph form (as she has manywarbdrobe and hair changes).

Sorors looked beautiful. My phone broke that day andI could not take pictures but Soror Pipen will send mesome of hers. I will share those when I get them.

HISTORY WAS MADE ONCE AGAIN!!!!
