The Cathedral Choir

is taking a well-deserved break for

the summer months. Rehearsals will resume in

mid-August as will their singing of the Solemn

High Mass each Sunday morning at 11:15. They

will be also performing in the Cathedral Music

Series throughout the year, which will include

the annual Bishop’s Concert with the Charleston

Symphony Orchestra and Chorus. If you have

ever given thought to possibly joining the Cathe-

dral Choir, now is the perfect time to do so! We

currently have openings in each section

(Soprano, Alto, Tenor, Bass) and would wel-

come any new members.

NEW!

This year we are pleased to announce that we

will establish the St. Cecilia Choir for girls in

grades 9-12. The choristers will provide musical

leadership for various Masses scheduled

throughout the year as well as combining on oc-

casion with the Cathedral Choir. The St. Cecilia

Choir will rehearse each Wednesday evening

from 6:00pm-7:00pm.

Cathedral Music Ministry

Two years ago we established the

St. Benedict Choir for girls in grades

3-7. The Choristers provided musical leader-

ship for the 9:00am Sunday Mass, which has

traditionally been a family-orientated Liturgy.

The girls enjoyed singing and the parishion-

ers enjoyed hearing their music throughout

the year. We are looking forward to another

exciting year. The St. Benedict Choir will

rehearse each Tuesday afternoon from 4:30pm

-5:30pm and will be singing at least twice a

month. The choristers will learn about vocal

production, music theory and history, sight-

singing, and there will also be fun musical

activities!!

For further information on any of the

Cathedral choir programs, please contact

Daniel Sansone at 843-724-8395 or email,

[email protected]

In the second reading today we are told, “You

shall love your neighbor as yourself.” Our spouse is

our closest neighbor. Are we striving every day

to love our spouse as Christ calls us to? The

next Worldwide Marriage Encounter weekends

are: 8-10 July, 2016 in Columbia, SC and 4-6

November, 2016 in Atlantic Beach, NC. For

more information visit:

at [email protected] or

Fortnight for Freedom

2016 is Tuesday, 21 June

- Monday, 4 July. This is

a time when our

liturgical calendar cele-

brates a series of great

martyrs who remained

faithful in the face of persecution by political

power—St. Thomas More and St. John Fisher,

St. John the Baptist, SS. Peter and Paul, and the

First Martyrs of the Church of Rome. Please

consider doing extra prayers and fasting for Re-

ligious Freedom during this time.
