Today in the Zebra room we had Miss Cathy come join us to play and teach us! We started the day off by welcoming all of our teachers

for the day. We sat nicely on the mat and waited for Miss Brittany to put some spooky stories on for us, such as Hanzel and Gretel and

the ginger bread man. The children then asked Miss Brittany if today we could decorate the room with Halloween decorations, so we

printed out some spooky decorations to laminate and hang around the room (check it out)! The Zebra room is very excited for our Hal-

loween party and the fun activities that are going to be there.

We then moved onto some group learning about farm, Miss Cathy read us a book that had lot’s of different farm animals that we will be

seeing on the farm, learning about all of the factors that make a farm, today we focused on eggs and how the baby chicken grow inside

of them.

We then got ready to practice walking as a team around the yard, so that we can prepare ourselves for the excursion as it is really im-

portant that we learn to stay with our educator's and friends.

We finished of group time today by using the matching memory cards for farm animals, exploring the baby animals names and how they

have different names to the adult farm animals.

I think the Chinese children will understand better about the story if I could tell them the story in Mandarin. I let the chil-

dren choose the story book and they all asked for the “101 Dalmatians”. They seem interested with the story and we

did discuss some questions after the story telling. I think now they would have better understanding about “101 Dalma-

tians”. William was asking about the choko that we left on the bench few weeks ago. It sprouted with new leaves too.

We all discussed about how tall it will be after another few weeks.

Today we made spiders using pipe cleaners as their legs, we cut

the pipe cleaners into 8 different pieces as spiders have 8 legs, the

children were then asked to count how many legs that they had

cut up so that they could sticky tape the correct amount onto the

spider body.

This was a great way for the children to use their numeracy skills to

count the amount of legs they are putting on their spider template.

We will be focusing on mostly Halloween art these next couple

weeks to prepare ourselves for Halloween.

Today we had a little bit of free play after group time as our group time was a little bit longer than usual, so when we got back from our

group walk we quickly got busy playing, some of the children gathered at the book area to read some books together, it is so good to

see all of my Zebra friends reading! Samarpreet enjoys playing with trains and train tracks, so we got them out to play and build with.

Lilliana and Alex like to play with the wooden bus, pretending to drive it around the room together saying “Beep Beep”

We also had some of the connect plastic toys out to build with, Ilan made a special car with them, it had wheels on the top, bottom and

sides of it.
