Inauguration of Amateur Radio Club Station VU2SQL

at S.N.Trust Higher Secondary School, Chertala

The Amateur Radio Club Sta�on VU2SQL at S.N.Trust Higher Secondary School, Chertala was inaugurated by the ADGP of Police Dr. B. Sandhya, IPS on 4 December 2013. Mr. Jayan U., VU2JYU, Principal of the school is the custodian of the club.

NIAR has issued a VHF Base sta�on to the club for promo�on of Amateur radio ac�vi�es in the school.

Bharat Scouts & Guides: On 26 Nov 2013 an awareness program on Role of Hams in Disaster Preparedness program was conducted by Mr.S.Ram Mohan, VU2MYH at Bharat Scouts & Guides State HQ, Hyderabad for 100 par�cipants from South India.

Krishna Murthy Ins�tute of Technology

On 2 Dec 2013 40 students and 2 staff from ECE Department of Krishna Murthy Ins�tute of Technology (KITS) Hyderabad visited NIAR for an Awareness program. They were shown the vide “A Day in the Life of a Ham” followed by power point presenta�on by Mr.S.Ram Mohan, VU2MYH, SSTV demo, HF Voice demonstra�on by contac�ng Ms.Bharathi Prasad, VU2RBI in Delhi, VHF Demo, Win link Demo. Later they visited the Radio Museum located in the campus.

Field Day and demo on Amateur Radio was conducted on 13 December 2013 at NIAR for 40 students and faculty of St. Joseph's Degree College, Hyderabad.

On 27 Nov 2013 an awareness program was conducted at NIAR for 20 students and 2 teachers from Rainbow Interna�onal School, Hyderabad.

Space Up 2013 was held at Maulana Azad Na�onal Ins�tute of Technology (MANIT), Bhopal during December 6-7, 2013 by Dhruva Space and NIAR. A presenta�on on Amateur Radio was given by Mr.S.Ram Mohan, VU2MYH on the occasion. Introduc�on to Satellites were given by Mr. Sanjay Nekkan�, AB3OE and Mr. Narayan Prasad N. of Dhruva Space.

Life Reinforcement Group:A talk on Amateur Radio was given by Mr. S. Ram Mohan, VU2MYH on 15 December 2013 at the mee�ng of Life Reinforcement Group held at Press Club, Hyderabad. About 75 par�cipants a�ended the program which was coordinated by Dr.Prakash.

Inauguration ofLamakaanRepeater

An Eyeball meet of Lamakaan Amateur Radio Club was held on 8th December 2013

at Hyderabad. Several local and other hams / swls par�cipated in the same.

Mr. K.Nagarajan, VU2KNN, President of the club inaugurated their new club sta�on VU2LCH and also the VHF repeater VU2LHR opera�ng on 145.600 minus shi�.

The following were the highlights of the event.

1) Demonstra�on of Homebrew TRx projects from VU2DEV, VU2ESE, VU3ELR

2) Demonstra�on of SDR transceiver from VU2ZAZ.

Amateur Radio Station AU2GIR from Gir Forest

A 'Ham Radio Expedi�on' was carried out by Mr. Narendrasinh N.Zala, VU2ZNN and th thfriends on 9 & 10 November 2013 at The Gir Forest Na�onal Park and Wildlife

Sanctuary located 65 km to the south-east of Junagadh, in Gujarat State, famous for its lions. 29 hams and 33 SWLs par�cipated in it. The special callsign AU2GIR was used.

Euro Award issued by Tulle Radio Club, France to 15 year old Tom, VU3TMO for contac�ng all 17 countries using Euro currency.

thThe 25 Anniversary of BC DX Net was celebrated on 24 Nov 2013. This net dealing with Broadcas�ng sta�ons is conducted on Sundays at 8.30 am on 7085 kHz. The regular net controllers now are Mr.Sanil Deep, VU3SIO, Mr. Neelkandan VU3BGK and Jose Jacob, VU2JOS. Special QSL cards were issued on the occasion.

HAM EXPO 2013, ADOORAdoor Amateur Radio Club conducted HAM EXPO 2013 on 10th November 2013 at Govr.U.P.School, Adoor. The Highlights of HAM EXPO'13 were Exhibi�on of Ham Radio equipments, Technical Sessions & Lectures, Sales of Spares & Junk materials etc. A special a�rac�ve stamp and souvenir was brought out during the occasion .

Ham Radio for Cochin InternationalHalf Marathon 2013

AU2KIM was the special callsign used by Ham Radio Emergency Network of Ins�tute of Amateur Radio in Kerala during Cochin Interna�onal Half Marathon 2013 held on 29th December 2013. OM Subu, VU2NSL, coordinated the event.

Bankatlal Badruka College of Informa�on TechnologyOn 29 Nov 2013 an Awareness program on amateur Radio was conducted at Bankatlal Badruka College of Informa�on Technology (BBC IT), Hyderabad. Mr.S.Suri, VU2MY spoke about the hobby to the students and staff. Mr.S.Ram Mohan, VU2MYH introduced the students to digital communica�ons. Mr. T. Hanuman Chowdhury, Chairman of BBC IT reminisced his along associa�on with NIAR and Amateur Radio. Over one hundred students and staff par�cipated in the program. The program was coordinated by Dr.D.V.N.S.Murthy, Director, BBC IT.
