The Hampton Oaks Hurricanes swim season runs from the end of May through the first week of August.

MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND!

Coaches and board members will perform swim evaluations for new swimmers. Swim team members must be able to swim one complete length of the pool without touching the lane line or bottom of pool. They can swim their stroke of choice.

AFTERNOON SWIM PRACTICES ! M-TH

Beginning the Wed. after Memorial Day weekend the team will practice in the evenings Monday-Thursday until Stafford County Public Schools close for the summer.

MORNING SWIM PRACTICES! M-F

Once school gets out for the summer, morning swim practices will begin. There are three separate swim

sessions based on swimmer age (U8, 9-12 year olds and over 13). Please confirm times for each practice on team website (www.hohurricanes.org). Normal practices are followed by an optional Stroke Clinic which is designed to help swimmers refine specific strokes and skills (e.g. starts, dives, turns).

SWIM MEETS ! DAYS VARY

Swim meets are traditionally held on Wednesday nights during the summer swim season. Our meet schedule will be posted as soon as it is available, usually in early April. All directions for pools can be found on the RSL website (http://rslswimming.com). Swim season Finals are normally held the first Saturday in August.

Requirements to be on the team:

The Hampton Oaks Hurricanes encourage you to come check out our fantastic swim team. In order to have your child(ren) swim for HOST they must meet the following criteria:

• Currently reside in Hampton Oaks (single family homes or townhomes) and hold a valid pool pass

• Be in good standing with the Hampton Oaks HOA

• Be under the age of 18 on June 1 of the current year

• Be able to swim at least one length of the pool

Swimmer Scholarships:

The HOST swim team is proud to now offer two scholarships each season to deserving college bound Hurricanes that are entering their senior year in high school or first year of college.

The HOST philosophy is to develop the emotional and physical growth of its swimmers and to the

morale of the community in which they live. The coaches, parents, and all involved in HOST strive to make swimming an enjoyable experience for all participants. We emphasize family fun and fitness

through swimming, and strive to instill in our swimmers the value of hard work, good

sportsmanship, self-discipline, leadership, a competitive heart and community spirit.

"Being a Hurricane isn't about learning to be the best swimmer. It's about learning to be the best you." Michael Fox-Moles, Head Coach
