INGREDIENTS12 ready-to-eat pitted prunes12 ready-to-eat apricots100ml dry white wine or orange juice12 rashers streaky bacon, halved1-2 tbsp English mustard24 meaty chipolata sausages (weused Cumberland)olive oil, for brushing

METHODSoak the prunes and apricots inthe wine or juice, preferably for 3hrs or more. Smear a piece ofbacon with a little mustard, thenuse it to wrap round a prune orapricot and a sausage. Repeatwith the remaining ingredients tomake 24 and arrange on a bakingtray.

Heat oven to 220C/200C fan/gas7, brush with a little oil and bakefor 18-20 mins until cooked andgolden. www.yorkshiremeat.com

Bowen is a remedial therapy,deceptively very gentle with aremarkable record of success.Fingers and thumbs are usedprimarily to make small rollingmovements over soft tissue (fascia),muscles, tendons and ligaments. Ifyou are used to other hands ontreatments you may find it verystrange – particularly as Kim willleave the room each time she has made some ‘moves’. Although itseems strange, it is actually afundamental part of the efficacy ofBowen. It gives your body a chanceto consider what has happened and,because it's not being giving anyfurther information, it has to dealwith it! Often, but not always,people will report a tingling feelingor warmth.

One of the (many!) things Kim lovesabout Bowen is that it is veryadaptable, and let’s face it, we mayall be essentially made the same butwe are all so different-one sizecertainly does not fit all! She can

treat directly on skin, or throughlight clothing. Generally people willlie on the couch, however that is notalways possible for people withmobility issues or heavily pregnantladies, or for someone who has acuteback pain for example, and Kim therefore treats many people seatedor standing – it is still effective.

Each Bowen therapy session variesaccording to the particular problemsof the client. By focusing on thelower and mid back and legs, theupper back, shoulders and neck, asappropriate, a sense of well-beingcan be achieved, helping relaxation,aiding sleep – helping to removeeveryday stress and anxiety that canmake us feel under-par orpreventing us functioning at ouroptimum.
